ok I got another XBox last week and a new (used (Re-PC)) TV and Blood Wake cuz why the hell not for $7

I talked them down to $100 for the TV. if I was really feeling like hunting I probably coulda found cheaper but I wanted a CRT upgrade now!

re:pc’s crt prices are always high but they also actually test the stuff that comes in and it subsidizes the free recycling of stuff that really shouldn’t be in a landfill so it’s not insulting necessarily

I’d gladly pay $100 for a decent set compared to what all the price gougers on Facebook marketplace are asking for in my area

I assumed bonkers meant it was a good deal for a good tube with seemingly working VHS and DVD integrated.

Ah! I haven’t priced out a CRT in a long time because I went with an even more stupid and expensive option. I remember being in there one time and some guy loudly complaining that some 19” trinitron desktop CRT was insanely expensive at $200 or whatever. Like yeah man, it’s the apex of the form, what are you expecting?

The guy with strong opinions about VCRs is chiming in to say Panasonics are my favorite.

The options are generally fully navigable without a remote, and the nicer consumer grade Panasonic ones very often have toggle-able options that’ll help if you’re doing video capture for digitation.

I’ve had Sonys that have awful default settings that make everything look soft and washed out and you can’t change them without a remote.

I’m trying to get as many spider man games as I can and the 360/PS3 era ones are just absurd. They are so expensive for what they are, but even worse is I’m trying to get them for 360 and just about every copy on eBay looks like a dog got to it and they’re STILL like $80

Pain, I went to the store to try and grab a Spider-Man 2 for PSP I saw, but when I actually checked inside the PSP disc casing had been replaced so I passed on it.

How do we like storing our collections? I’m always looking for display ideas that are a bit more mature than your childhood nostalgia mancave.

I had high hopes for this teak G-Plan cabinet. The shelves underneath are open and I put up plants and a framed painting. But the results are a little less Midcentury Modern and a little more Grandma’s Bookshelf. Regardless, these are the games I have that aren’t with my parents. I’m out of shelf space and thinking this is the chance to get some nicer storage. Also something with solid cupboards to hide game consoles.

I just use standard media shelves off Amazon and from Walmart. I’ve got way too many games to do anything particularly fancy with my display. I’m fighting a battle between practicality and limited space. In an ideal space I’d probably have a few specific shelves dedicated to certain things while the majority is sorted onto much larger shelves than I currently have.

Those NeoGeo spines look gorgeous.

I only have hand-me-down Ikea shelves, I don’t think I ever bought one myself. But I do have the bad habit of filling them all up myself.
