In the 2nd movie he gets hit by a car 2 or 3 times. Its real dumb.
Iāve been holding off unloading on these movies.
John Wick got nothing on Desperado
The 2nd movie really reveals that they are just making shit up as they go. They should have taken a bit more care with developing the assassins world. I could forgive the first movie for having some issues there. But the sequel was realā¦bland.
2 was a real mess. Lets have the most indulgent, dark artsy suicide we can possibly think up. Beautiful darkness or some shit. Yeah thatās a real great thing to feature in your cool man movie. Not to mention was also a very extended hitting of the brakes for a character the viewer cares nothing about. Almost made me turn the movie off.
I think they could use a little more grit and a little less overdevelopment.

I REALLY do not care about all this assassin world high table stuff
The best part so far was the first big scene with the dogs. But, overall, Iām surprised at how un-far they pushed their fights. You can really see the choreography on its sleeve. Nothing feels strenuous or fought for.
I think Atomic Blond has the best fights of the past few years. It certainly has some weak moments with the fights. But overall, that movie really pushed it hard, to good results for most of the fights.

I have also watched this now and I definitely liked it less than the first two
way too much time spent trying to clear the deck of characters from the second one who were likable enough and didnāt need to be conclusively written out, way too many goofy rituals and rites of passage and magic coins, frequently sickening violence
the choreography is obviously good and everything they played for laughs basically worked but I donāt really want more of these. It feels like weāre back to when everyone loved Robert Rodriguez

The beloved slow burn to world building of the first kinda strained leaning too hard in 2, then imo felt more natural by 3 that I didnāt mind how the writing has thrown like a more and more fantastic drape under/over āour real worldā.
Iād need to rewatch the sequels cuz Iāve only seen the first multiple times, but maybe the overall cinematography of 2 was best, and the plot beats/pacing of fights in 3 benefitting as a graduation into āhuh yeah weāre this extra coolā, kinda strutting a respectable flex. All in and how far
like obviously his work is qualitatively very different and How Can You Not Tell Them Apart and so on but the slicker grosser aspects and the reception seem pretty comparable
