It is almost lady Ghostbusters time

Punch-Drunk Love is analogous for Adam Sandler

Okay, I give you Three Amigos.

A bunch of people I know got free tickets to the premiere because they wear ghostbusters coveralls almost everyday. Bribing the dangerous nerds?

`Since my nostalgia for the original is driven almost entirely by the theme song I have to ask if they’ve got a cover of the original song or if they plagiarized a completely different Huey Lewis song this time around

Fall Out Boy :frowning:

inherent vice is so good

why are we talking about inherent vice in the ghostbusters thread

that shit in sykel’s post sure is some gamergate shit

I think it pretty well sucks that doing something as innocuous as putting women in a movie about shooting ghosts with lasers means I can’t even lament the lack of bill murray and the death harold ramis without unconsciously entering into a culture war on whether or not women should be able to do things besides have sex and act like they want to have sex

There’s also another cover that sounds so much like the RPJr version that I wonder why they even bothered.

All the people hating on the movie because it is remade with women makes me sad. I’d rather hate on it for being yet another remake in general.

I do have to say though that while I have no idea of the quality of the movie (likely won’t until it hits tv sometime next year) if it is good then they should fire whoever was responsible for all the trailers and commercials as they’ve been universally unfunny as hell.

because now you’re thinking about a Ghostbusters reboot directed by PT Anderson and starring John C. Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Maya Rudolph, and Julianne Moore, with the ghost of Philip Seymour Hoffman as the villain

The first trailer was pretty bad but I think they’ve improved a little since.

SPY did a good thing by making that lady not yell absolutely every minute she’s on screen and also good Statham and it redoes that bit from the end of DIE HARD but recasts it as something positive instead of kind of regressive??? So that’s nice.

if sony released a ghostbusters movie for the fans + masses. people would not have been this upset. then this whole debacle what happened in the hospital would not have happened.

why is that so difficult to understand?

for example a wife and a husband have an argument about the new ghostbusters movie. his wife wants to see it, but he does not. so he leaves upset, steps into his car, goes to liquor store. buys alchohol. while driving drinks it and thinks why on this planet did i marry such a stupid woman! then an accident occur and he injured 4 people.

now 99% of the people will be angry at the husband for injuring 4 people. however the root of the problem was his wife + sony!

I refuse to believe this is real

Rock on

I just saw that one trailer and it looked real bad.

I’m multiply invested in an all-female Ghostbusters being good, so it made me sad.

I read an absolutely spectacular reddit thing on how the new movie can “ruin my childhood” which essentially advanced a theory that hardcore fandom can transfer intellectual property rights.

all trailers are horrible

I do find that they tend to obscure any sense of what a movie is actually like. I feel like I always have to read between the lines. Well, they showed that scene for this reason; in context it’s probably more like this. That action and reaction are almost certainly from different scenes. There’s some tonal dissonance here, which suggests they’re misrepresenting this element…

Doctor Who has some good trailers.

I think the trailer probably has most of the ‘jokes’. I heard on the radio that the movie does bash men. Do lady ghostbusters only make half of what their male counterparts make?
