there’s actually a toggle for this in the Steam controller setup, which also supports the Switch procon, so if your brain is too broken and can’t decouple the ABXY/BAYX switch, you can tell Steam to do it for you
the real thing to consider is that the controller has digital triggers
I hardly use steam though anything I play is either pirated or emulated
