i always felt that the campaign, strikes etc. should be the ‘ramp’ to raiding, introduce mechanics there that the raid would expand on/require mastery of
this would also be an opportunity to solve one of the core problems with destiny - that the better raid encounters are like, the only interesting pve in the whole game
trying to do raids fucking sucks for me because i have to engage with the insane weirdos who take this game too seriously or are fucking racist gamer freaks. like playing games with strangers as a woman is a constant misery. teg did lfg the other day and got invited to a discord that literally had the n-word in the name. the game would not be lessened in any way by allowing people to do easier matchmade versions of these activities, and if shit like nightfalls had matchmaking
lol @ people on reddit saying “youre compromising bungie’s vision!!! dark souls!!!” like dude im sorry i dont have a discord full of poopsockers to play with because im a fuckin adult and not an emotionally stunted weirdo who prides himself on being The Raid Master. every other destiny player is the vanilla WoW guildmaster yelling at you on vent and taking away all your dkp. at the very least there needs to be some kind of fucking in-game lfg or something
i used to have to play arma 2 with a guy named “jewslayer88” (its ironic so its ok, you see!!) because he was in a steam group the guys i played with were in and i will never lower myself to that rung of playing with pubbies again
I have a group of four + me that I know IRL and we aren’t keen to LFG because of the above and difficulty vetting for people who won’t be transphobic. I’ll check with em.
I love the post above! The thing I want most for endgame is the ping system from Apex Legends. I find it extremely useful when e.g. I can tag an invader in gambit prime instead of having to communicate a relative position to my team while trying to duel them. I have such respect for the deaf clans that finish the raids in spite of Bungie deliberately designing them to require verbal communication. I know for some people the symbol callouts are the “mechanics” but going from 4 in Leviathan to 16 in Last Wish is going to be a huge hurdle for communication. It also seems fundamentally shallow to me in a Nintendo key way and I much prefer Eater of Worlds’ restaurant coop encounter.
absolutely. i mean im not one of ‘us’ but i had a steady group of people to play with before. it was more of an excuse to HANG OUT and talk with them rather than me caring about whatever grind bullshit i was on
xur is selling one eyed mask and vigilance wing for any other asshole titans out there
right now, not too bad. they added power catch-up bounties to prepare you for new seasons, and there’s tons of powerful drop sources comapred to the like… three… there were before
i keep thinking about picking this back up but i think what i really want is my first time doing vault of glass with a bunch of sb folks again. i remember it being hard and confusing yet y’all were supportive & fun despite me messing up a lot. it dropped a hawkmoon that i basically used the entirety of year 1 because i guess it reminded me of how fun that was. i’ve never felt actually attached to an item in a video game like ever? but the way i associated it with hanging out with y’all was something else
