I downloaded all these cars, now I want to take them on the road. (Handheld Consoles for Emulation)

anything packing that rockchip soc is worth it on the back of portmaster alone, imo

Has anyone tried installing Android on a Switch before? I’ve been trying all day but it keeps messing up, despite following the main tutorial and videos online.

I think it’s all a lie to try and make me waste time :angrypig:

Does anyone have a favorite among upgraded shoulder buttons for the Miyoo Mini+?

To update anyone who tries and has a similar problem: after a few days of trying everything and failing, the solution turned out to be that I just needed a new SD card. Lineage (the Switch Android OS) didn’t like my old one and kept screwing up because of it. The punchline is that in the end, after installing Android and getting it working, the reason I installed it for, 3DS emulation, ran badly anyway, so it was all a wash. :headstone:

there are doom and quake folders among all the console folders that the rgb30 sets up for you in its micro sd. what do i put in those to play stuff with them? do i just put wads in there and the system already has everything else it needs?

I got a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro a few weeks ago because its size/weight and power was exactly what I was wanting in a portable, and it’s been so much fun to play with.

I bought a 3d printed grip on Etsy that also works as a front cover if I flip it around and slide it in for travel, and it’s pretty comfortable.

Anyway, thanks to it, I learned that for 3d games on the DS, you can add an action replay code that enables widescreen to games. So I’ve been playing Phantasy Star Zero in widescreen with speed up hacks and all equip codes so it’s been a breeze to enjoy.

Similarly did the same with the GameCube PSO Episode 1 & 2, and having the ability to run really fast makes the experience so pleasant. I can grind out a level during a break when before it’d take me like 10-15 minutes to clear just one section of a level lol

Besides that, I spent a lot of time last night trying to get Etrian Odyssey Nexus to run on the last Citra but it had graphics problems where the custom character art would mess up and there’s no transparencies on all 2d asserts, so I setup both Lime3DS and Lemonade and surprisingly Lime ran it slowly but Lemonade did it perfectly fine? I always heard Lime was better so I was surprised to see Lemonade do better in this particular use case.

Besides that, I’ve only played PSP and older systems, which all ran well. Need to try PS2 sometime too.

Did anyone else get an RP4 Pro? It’s a lovely little system!

Man, I really want to buy an RP4 but I have not spent nearly enough time with my RP2, Playdate, or Analogue Pocket to convince myself I’m not just becoming a doodad collector

Yeah honestly I shouldn’t have gotten it either considering I have so many other handhelds, but the light weight and controls fit so nicely with my small, pathetically weak hands that I’m pretty satisfied that I got it lol

The Steam Deck and Switch feel pretty heavy now in comparison. It’s like having a nicer Switch Lite kinda?

My fear with those is the L2 trigger seems pretty prone to breaking.

Most of the games I play don’t use the L2/R2 but I’ll keep yall updated if they do break! (Hope not)

Have now seen multiple people go “woah the battery touches the cpu that probably isn’t good.”

Yeah that’s generally a Powkiddy special feature, seems less than ideal for heat management.

I wonder if you could wedge a thermal pad in there, or if it would just transfer heat between the CPU and the battery in a more adverse way than having an air gap.

somebody ported the LGPT Tracker software to the Miyoo Mini. gonna have to try this at a certain pont

I gave in and bought a Retroid Pocket 5 which should be shipping within the next month or so. reviews aren’t even out for it yet, so I hope I didn’t make a big mistake. With an AMOLED 1080p screen the size of a Switch Lite, it was a bit more attractive than the RP4+ or (much cheaper) RP3+. No touch screen, but I probably wasn’t gonna play DS games on this really. Hoping I can do PS5 and Steam in-home streaming well enough on it too.

This is basically happening because there are a bunch of PS2 RPGs I finally want to get around to and I think I’m more likely to play them handheld. I’m hoping this’ll be good to do some Android testing/porting for my game projects too

Got the Gamecube color version because I like that indigo color. Kinda wish the buttons and sticks were all white, like my RP2, but oh well

how come with all the nostalgia-bait color palettes, no one has done a DS Lite cobalt blue? that’s probably my favorite video game thing i’ve ever had, colorwise

This does seem like a better option than PS Portal.

What kind of bandwidth do you need in your home to do game streaming on a handheld like this anyway? I feel like I’d play a lot more shit if I didn’t have to sit at my desk

Mildly related: the Galileo g8 is very good at turning your phone into one of these. The plus version can do small tablets like an iPad mini.

Is there one of these that fits on a keychain and isn’t terrible to play?
