also the original MCC being a complete and utter disaster for months and months made them totally lose their minds, which explains the bizarre way they’re talking about stuff like this and why the MCC is coming out game by game on PC. doing it this way was supposed to prevent another disastrous launch lol so glad to see it’s working out for them
ive not noticed any audio problems though i haven’t played the original in years

I think there’s a reason that, in possession of a dragon’s heard of sales data, Valve believes The Gamers are best handled by acting like a mercurial, veiled, emotionally abusive father
It probably doesn’t affect everyone although I see a lot of people complaining. To me it’s like the voices are coming from a tin can on a string while all the gun sounds are muffled and underwatery, it’s really no fun at all like this.
just played a very small amount of the campaign and there are audio crackles on any sort of transition and voices sound extremely muffled and tinny (literally didn’t shoot a gun, so dunno about that yet)
also: is there not a halo thread? i could search but i’m lazy
it’s honestly hard to imagine you couldn’t do a better job with just the xbox game assets, which they absolutely have, even if they’re only in like 320kbps mp3 or whatever it shipped as, so I am very curious as to how exactly they fucked this up
anyway the multi feels terrible for a regular deathmatch on kbm compared to anything that’s come since but I think once I start fussing with a controller and vehicles and CTF and whatnot it’ll gel
something’s up with this too

The most memorable parts of Amnesia for me are
- the water monster
- the baby fountain
- putting everything I could into the acid barrel
- the part where I didn’t really want to drill holes in that corpse but the game required it
- the brazen bull
- the guy flying around the room
I think Amnesia is great and SOMA is even better. As frustrating as some of the monster encounters in SOMA were for me (I remember complaining to Birch about them) I didn’t think the game worked as well with inert monsters. (I played it a second time when they added that mode.)
My favorite thing about Observer is the way the flashy hallucinatory parts go on longer than you might expect. I didn’t care all that much for the interactive parts of the game.
I couldn’t bring myself to try Disgaea for many years because although I suspected that I’d love the mechanics I thought that I’d find the story and characters repulsive. When I finally tried it, I loved the mechanics and found the story and characters repulsive. (I’m a big fan of Phantom Brave, though.)
Deep Dwarves are so beefy! I had a wall of one that I 15 runed in the recent 0.24 tournament. I was lucky enough to find basically the best armor I’ve ever seen by the end of Lair ( a +17 crystal plate armour {rN+ Int+5 Slay+2} and -2 hat of the Alchemist {rElec rPois rF+ rC+ rN+ MR+ rMut rCorr} ). I literally tabbed through the 3 rune game in something less than 1.5 hours, which goaded me into doing the mind-numbing 15 rune extended game. https://crawl.kelbi.org/crawl/morgue/gate88/morgue-gate88-20191102-174724.txt
I’m like almost a good player, but the game is too fucking tedious sometimes so I can only play well for short bursts, and then I swear it off for months.
I think I literally only remember the last room in Amnesia, like the fact that there is a water monster in the game is news to me and I finished it.
I think my overall take on Frictional Games is that in general the mechanical halves of their games are so rough that they’d be better off just making straight up walking sims.
playing halo on anything but a controller always feels fucked up because it wasnt designed for it, pc clowns need to know their role and get an xbox controller already. the only time i ever played halo on pc i beat halo 1 on legendary with a saturn pad and felt like god
alright i played more halo reach pc and yeah there’s weird shit going on with audio (only played campaign)
guns sound bad, voices actually aren’t too bad, but the music sounds like the mids have just been ripped out? and the overall mix is… unpleasant, to say the least. it’s not intolerable, but it’s disappointing
also got that new SaGa for 16 USD (thanks @Drem) and it seems very neat so far. i love the voice acting. i’ll try to post in that thread
how is this audio in a shippable state
beginning to get the frown lines my friend who peeked at Windows’ audio drivers had
R A J
E U O
A D U
C I R
H O N
E
Y
swear to fucking god they sampled the whole thing off a 360 hooked up to an aux jack or something because they technically weren’t allowed access to the assets and ripping a retail xbox filesystem would’ve required GPL code
In true MCC fashion I’m sure it’ll all be sorted in about two years.
looking forward to hearing this audio
p excited about reach haven’t gotten a chance to play it yet because oops dragon’s dogma again
