Silent Hill 2 and Shenmue 1 really know how to tell a story.
428 is barely above water and patience with how it gives out a B- story.

northgard is fun for about the first 10 minutes of every match and then it feels like you’re just grinding resources forever as the costs to grab new territory get too high and happiness starts going down
I kind of wish they cut out combat entirely - I don’t really see the point of a simplified and slowed down rts that still has combat that’s handled by commanding individual units around to attack things. seems like it could just be abstracted out to some system that’s tied to resource gathering? and you could use that to handle territory stuff too?
DQ11 is a really nice way to unwind after getting home from work. the first month back is always the roughest for me.
unfortunately, my PS4 Pro keeps having stupid handshake issues with my TV, so it blacks out temporarily. this doesn’t matter so much in a turn-based game, at least.
my Apple TV did the same until i changed some settings and bought a Belkin cable, so i have a feeling i need to do that.
also, apparently the PSVR unit doesn’t do RGB output so that is also probably an issue? lol?
oops, i’m supposed to talk about playing the game.
i want to eat all the monsters. they look delicious in 4K
Oh wow this is superficially similar enough to Bad North I thought they were the same
If you have a first generation PSVR processing box, the HDMI passthrough on that one doesn’t actually handle 4K and HDR well (which is crazy considering how closely those two were released) so you might need to look into upgrading that
I started Deadly Premonition and if I had to try and describe it after a couple hours I’d say it is almost like a Silent Hill by way of Raw Danger. The mood isn’t quite what such a description would indicate but… yeah, I think that’ll work for now.
i am also the only person i’ve seen so far playing a woman
Played the first episode of the Telltale Batman series. Got it for free off the Microsoft store, though I was under the impression the whole series was up for free. Guess not.
Anyway, it was… ok. I don’t really have much to say about it save that it, probably unsurprisingly, felt like a preamble to a larger story. I’d like to see where the story goes, and might take steps to find out in the near-ish future, though for now, Arkham Knight is closing in on the 3/4ths finished downloading point and I’m looking forward to it, warts and all.
Oh, I will say Telltale’s approach to storytelling feels like a much better fit for the detective-aspects of Batman and it is a breath of fresh air to have a strong(er) supporting cast. Arkham Asylum/City (and I suspect Knight) do sometimes have that feeling of “Let’s jam as much of Batman’s rogues gallery into the game as we can,” imho with a pretty severe penalty in terms of fleshing out Batman’s interactions with them and sidelining a lot of Batman’s normal allies/supporting cast.
Played Warframe, usual round of daily sorties. Looking forward to tomorrow’s Dev Stream on account of details on the upcoming Vauban and (kinda out of the blue, but not really) Ember rework. In honor of Vauban, here’s some pics of him as I currently have him setup, and some faffing about in Captura/Photo Mode with Zephyr.
I think Telltale Batman was… fine? I don’t know that I’d recommend it to someone who doesn’t like Batman, but if one does like Batman then I think there is enough there to be a look. I will say that I thought it did do a good job of working against expectations in terms to how certain characters generally are in the general canon.
this owns. thanks for respecting burn notice
Yeah not all cables are rated the same. You’re issue could very well be cable related.
It could also be something about your TV, which may have been fixed via firmware update. LG and Samsung are usually pretty good about firmware updates for most of their models. I dunno about other brands.
when i bought my TV last year, i also picked up some monoprice cables which are not technically HDMI 2.1 (because they didn’t pay for the licensing or whatever), but were supposedly HDR ready. my experience with them has been that they are not up to snuff.
the Belkin cables have worked out pretty well, but are unfortunately more expensive.
my TV is a Vizio, and they seem less good about firmware updates and addressing issues with game consoles. atm, at least.
i’m not sure what gen it is. i doubt it’s first gen, because i only bought it last Black Friday. but…who knows! i read something that the VR box can’t handle RGB output? maybe that article was old, though. oop, here:
so, this weekend, the plan is:
it’ll be nice when companies finally figure all this stuff out. i mean, Microsoft seems to have with the One X?
i have been using Banshee on the disruption mode, and i think i can pushback the ones who detonate stuff, so i feel like a lifesaver evertime i pull that off!
looks like a frowny robert downey jr. can you call your character robert frowney jr.
when you’re a SPY
Playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint I’m glad to notice that the incidental dialogue in these games is still as fucking hilarious as it was 10 years ago. It’s not quite “You’ll die on your knees, like a SCIENTIST!” but hearing a bunch of morons wander around a swamp saying shit like “These helicopters are destroyed. Nobody survived. But if they did, they’ll die here, in the swamps,” before I stab them in the dick is pretty good
yeah i was gonna say this
or darksydephil
which is the problem in the game everyone comes out looking like a goatee dweeb
Good News with cxbx-reloaded updates Jet Set Radio Future runs at full speed with no glitches.
Bad news: after the first two hours Jet Set Radio Future’s level design goes into the toilet and you are supposed to navigate gray gigantic aimless pit ridden areas. Imagine you made a place filled with egyptian imagery and pathways going to dead ends because the whole level is actually trying to jump across characterless rooftops. Without humor I am surprised I haven’t heard of @Felix messing with this for an hour.
Galleon works but is unplayable because text is invisible.
By the lack of videos I think Halo and Fable still don’t work. GunValkyrie works except L3/R3 don’t?
The list of OXbox games I would ever want to play again is real small. But seeing someone get the xbmc dashboard working on the emulator filled my brain with pointless ideas.
