i have lots of reservations about certain other aspects of DS but you will definitely flip at the
energy in the main loop. fwiw the console version runs exceptionally well even on a base ps4.

(tecmo’s) Deception 4 is getting tedious entering phase 3 (evil carnival). Partly I just dont like setting, I dont like spooky clowns and I miss the haunted castle.
Game-play wise the game is receding in terms of fun. More and more enemy characters are immune to various trap types making planning trap chains while kiting 3 + npcs tedious and when you do have a good chain you have to set it off while avoiding attack meaning you cant really watch. I really wish I had some new types of traps to take the place of the old staples.
Still having fun but I am taking a break from it.
SRB2Kart continues to be a joy especially now that I am playing it on a retrobit usb Genesis pad + shoulders. Its a really nice pad, d pad feels authentic and the shoulders are very crisp feeling. I am able to play aggressively while keeping my hands fairly relaxed. If It had twin sticks Id buy several and never use anything else.
Like a lot of classic sega games its more action puzzle than straight action. Solutions for going faster are often non-obvious. Gameplay on the fan made tracks continues to be pretty good as I unlock more. The fun of them is often not immediately obvious, it is not a friendly game but mastery continues to be rewarding. It takes a lot for me to want to master a game.
I suspect this game will exist as a fan project for a decade.
My brother is looking into modding to give us a better multi player battle experience. I could see getting deep into that.
Looking seriously at FF7R but the weather is too good right now so most of my spare time during the day is going towards gardening and working on the car. Ill prolly pick that up in the heat of the summer when everywhere except inside and the beach are miserable.
What did you think of the final boss?
Not sure how to do spoiler text
Less interesting than the first fight against the Lord of Dust, just because it’s kind of a typical base defense segment but really long. The first time you do it at least something cool follows with the fakeout ending and final act.
Thank you
i attempted to go back and start the mass effect trilogy with ME1 and immediately uninstalled it after about three hours. it seems clear that maybe nobody had any faith in parts of this game working well at all. it doesn’t work as a third person shooter, it doesn’t really work with RPG-lite mechanics. someone should make a mod of this game that turns it into a visual novel with three shooting gallery segments and it seems like every option is “lawful gun-murder” or “cold blooded racism”
it also is very weird because it drops you into a big galaxy to explore which i forgot, only all of it is almost immediately locked away besides the “core” missions they want you to do by giant Beef Gates of impenetrable soldier AI that charges you blindly
pitching a game where the protagonist is supposed to be a leader for humanity with diverse negotiations with different species what if every other option was racism
tokyo xanadu is blatantly falcom trying to make a persona game, with the high school setting and levelling up your friendships and stuff.
i can’t blame them for it, they’ve gotta make money somehow, but at the same time, mockbustering is totally beneath them.
it;s not a bad game, but it’s not really a great one, either. if you’re gonna get it, get it on vita rather than ps4. i think it gains a lot of charm, being a game of this type, contained within the cosy private intimacy of a handheld.
Got silver on my tower 2 (aka Tactical tower NEW).
Apparently me spending my one medal made me ineligible for the “Pure Nexus” sunstone bonus I would have got. Guess I won’t be using my medals anymore until I have enough to make a big difference.
Anyway, this game is pretty deeply satisfying. It’s like a clicker (numbers go WAAAY the fuck up) but with real tactical & strategic choice. I uh may be addicted to this for a while.
Ah man I was kind of close to gold, huh? Frustratingly so!
I have now gotten 7 hours of entertainment out of content that is available in the demo for this game.
Control oozes this confidence in its disjointed narrative and stylish cutscene direction and it’s so intriguing and captivating but most of this game is actually running around corridors using my handgun and shotgun to shoot the handgun guy, the grenade guy, the exploding guy, the mini-gun guy, etc. I kind of feel like just reading a plot summary or watching a playthrough on Youtube rather than playing it myself. A run of the mill shooter just isn’t what I wanted out of this game, or maybe I’m just not in the right mood for it.
so did they sell you on paying 725 dollars for it over two decades
I doubt it! But it’s pretty great for $15 right now. I suspect most people will probably get their fill from the free demo, even!
They’re almost certainly releasing content faster than I can play it, but if the itch strikes and I somehow run out of content, I would probably get at least the next piece of DLC just to see what changes.
I’m not totally convinced on the entire value proposition, but it is a well designed video game.
I think it’s really solid shooting (nobody does pistols like Remedy) but they lost their nerve and extended a 7-hour game to twelve or fifteen hours and it’s a real disservice to it
i have played sword art online fatal bullet for 2 hours and maybe put in 20 actual minutes of gameplay if i’m lucky, not counting running back and forth between anime people. i guess the premise is you’re the best at all videogames forever but YOU REFUSED TO PLAY MMOS UNTIL TODAY and now you’re playing with your best friend who idolizes you. the first thing you do is accidentally find a rare item that, uh, turns out to be an AI wifechild who refuses to call you anything but master and constantly frets over her wifely duties. the game makes a point of telling you that she might be capable of love. she makes everyone call her rei because anime fans are very subtle. immediately after this you run into the sword art online people and they invite you over to their house and then like 15 people start telling you you’re good and the best and how excited they are to hang out with you every day now. like for the next hour and half i felt like i had a concussion
look at this shit! they put like 40 people on your friends list and all of their messages are some variation of telling you you’re cool or how much they wanna be friends or they’re weird shit like this
oh yeah kirito and asuna have a weird child AI slave??? who loves them unconditionally and the game thankfully never mentions this again. this game is so extremely overwhelming. every time there’s a cutscene where i get cornered by like 15 people who tell me how cool i am for 10 minutes straight i feel like i’m caught in a sleazy anime misogynist version of the prisoner. this is someone’s fantasy, but not mine
yeah, but you also get a grappling hook
you know, all the people who insisted that this game was good and not creepy and definitely not for sex pests have some answering to do
it has a grappling hook and i ignore the story because it’s sword art and doesn’t deserve my energy
