they got dolmades and huge racks of halal meat drifting around corners that you have to boost to avoid
you got beans power

The shoreline of Bodega Bay is just full of fucking cats and in recognition of their indifference to you there’s no benefit to performing tricks on that course
on that one track instead of each of your opponents being specifically french, japanese, british, etc., every single one of them races under armenian livery and this is never addressed
I love Wave Race so much that I jonesed hard enough to consider Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball because I saw it had a jetski part
BRING BACK WAVERACE YOU COWARDS, IT’S BEEN 19 YEARS
hahahahah you must play the booby game to enjoy the wave race. i would go with the beach volleyball racing because that game rules! the volleyball is fun and the dating game is as good as like, a yakuza dating game or whatever. i tried to play a senran kagura game in VR but all you did was rotate models of girls that you can make REALLY BIG or REALLY SMALL
I lack enough shame that the “combat biathlon jetski racer” part of “horny combat biathlon jetski racer” is enough to sell me, but lol that game’s like, 9-10k yen
The Joker is maybe the best guest character they’ve added to Mortal Kombat thus far, if only because they made him extremely obnoxious and everyone constantly tells him how much they hate him.
Knocking out every mission in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey because sure, OK, why not. Closer to having done all of them than not at this point.
I am in a JRPG mode apparently.
Been playing Pokemon Prism, a complete ROM hack of Pokemon Crystal. It adds a ludicrous amount of things, including pokemon from newer generations, an accurate-to-Japan night and day cycle based on the time of year, side scrolling sections, overworld sprites for every pokemon (!), trundling around AS a pokemon, a guard who makes fun of capitalism, multiple new games in the Games Corner, etc. etc. etc. It’s fine? Despite all of this it still feels a bit like…underbaked in some ways. Like, the side-scrolling sections are totally pointless, the walking around as a pokemon bits are usually interminable, and the story isn’t really going anywhere yet and I’m 8 hours in.
Actually the wild part of the story is that it seems to be building up to a narrative about an indigenous people’s culture being overtaken by colonizers?? This is mostly being absorbed through osmosis rather than actually being told, but it’s interesting. There’s no real bad guy yet, but there are a bunch of…power rangers??? I guess those might be the bad guys. Very confusing.
Also playing Baten Kaitos again. I have it so that the saves are syncing to Google Drive, and now that I have a new phone I can actually emulate it on my phone (!!!), so I’m playing it simultaneously on PC and phone, plus no chance of losing my saved game again. I just beat the first real boss and I’m on hold for a bit because I want to stream the next session on PC. This time I’m going to finish it for real though, instead of losing my save data right after I get to the second disc!!! Fourth time’s a charm!!!
Also also picked up Tales of Berseria on sale a while ago and I’m finally playing it. I love Velvet so far, her arc from “innocent-ish tomboy who worships her brother-in-law” to “murderous demoness who wants nothing but revenge” is shockingly believable? Like, the game lets you simmer in a peaceful village life for about 1.25 hours and sets up a very good betrayal. I’m with Velvet. I wish I could put more, uh, practical clothes on her though. I’m sure I’ll pick up some more fashions on the way through though. I’ve never played a Tales game before so the battle system seems stupidly complex for what amounts to “smack the buttons dawg” but we’ll see.
Also also also got Fire Emblem: Whatever the Gamecube one is called on my phone, played like 20 minutes of it last night to test and it seems to work fine. Cool. Is this a good one? Do people like it? I’ve never finished an FE game, but I liked the first GBA one for the 15 hours or whatever I played of it when I was a teen.
Also also also also got FFT finally, also on my phone. Only about 15 minutes in and I’ll save what I think for the thread and for more playtime. I’m playing the original though because I couldn’t wait for Felix’s patch while everyone else played the game.
Also also also also also finally got FFVII on the Switch…about an hour in and I can’t say I want to continue that much? I dunno. I guess I’ll give it a shot after I finish
checks watch
the other 500 hours of JRPGs I’ve just set myself up for.
So two things (as someone who hasn’t played Berseria): if the costume is super bothersome, there usually is some DLC costumes for these games that might help (but also very much MIGHT NOT) so check that out maybe? Usually you can get another costume or two in game though, so that might be your best bet. Also Tales combat always looks complicated, but “smack the buttons dawg” usually works just fine for the main quest.
These character designs feel like they are eating me alive
As far as the PS4 trophies are concerned (ignoring all the DLC stuff), I finally finished this dang game.
In reality? Oh no. Not even close.
welcome to my world. im in the middle of two jrpgs (suikoden 2, etrian odyssey nexus), and I just reacquired the whole shadow hearts series including koudelka and i want to play through all of those. i WANT to stream but i NEED a computer
oh and im also going through shining force and planning on playing 2 after
all while playing a fucking final fantasy mmo
i will be done with the shadow hearts series when I’m 50
my buddy Lena sent me a copy of her new game that’s coming out next month and i’ve been playing it in between FFXIV sessions. it’s called Nightmare Temptation Academy.
(uh, CW maybe? sex, violence, suicidal ideation, etc.)
i could probably safely say that her work is maybe “not for everyone,” but i personally am really loving it. it really flawlessly weaves in this dating/school sim with her music and music videos and metagames, while simultaneously being gross as hell and incredibly honest and tender?
teenagers dealing with hormones and school and woke politics in a world that is very quickly being sucked into a void. but it doesn’t feel contrived?
i haven’t beaten it yet so idk where it’s going, but i’m digging the time i’ve spent with it so far.
Elsinore is great actually, glad I gave it another shot, I was somehow really turned off by the presentation at first but I love that they really nailed the Groundhog Day branching paths thing
hopefully ill keep playing jrpgs after cyber sleuth, i havent really touched the genre in 7 years
holy shit this looks awesome
honestly i’m super happy to hear that; i definitely thought of you while playing this haha.
remind me when it comes out im definitely getting it. i was convinced within twenty seconds of starting the video but now I’ve seen the whole thjng and YESSSZ
You bastards got me and I installed FFT WotL on my PSP to play and specifically hurt Felix. I at least got the patched version that removes the slowdown, though.
