I too have played a bunch of Code Vein, most of which is dressing my character up and then stumbling around finding the next place to go and accumulating too many soulshaze
my Switch is useful now because they updated the NES app with Journey to Silius and now I get to relive my childhood of being extremely bad at this 15 minute long game
also had to play some Ninja Warriors to remind myself that I knew what I was doing and the answer is no, no I do not.
and then I grabbed Groove Coaster Wai Wai Party today because I looked at my work bonus and went “yes, okay”. I do not have a lot of Groove Coaster experience, which is to say I have none, but I played it and I like it and I like the kind of bonkers song selection present in this version (yeah, no, 20 Touhou remixes and 20 Vocaloid songs and the Pop Team Epic opening and a mysterious category labeled “Misc”, why not) and I was enjoying myself
and then I unlocked Brain Power
I already know about Brain Power. I know Brain Power is strong.
I was not ready for the combination of the background visuals Taito had prepared for Brain Power, which consist of all of the fucking insane lyrics to this song, and the fact that very obnoxiously bleeped out the word “cocaine”. these things combined into destroying at least like, 15 attempts at just trying to play the song with laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of it all.
anyway, since my monitor is now pivoted into portrait mode, I should probably hop on the eshop and buy ESP Rade
God the shooting in Quantum Break was so good wish they had given it a bit more space to go crazy. Decided I’d rather have the harddrive space than play through the alternate paths which didn’t seem that different. It made a heck of an impression on me. It was also less of a time travel story than I wanted it to be. The two main time travel parts happen more or less off screen. You spend a lot of time in the heads of different characters but their actual motivations are pretty unclear. Like they state their motivations over and over but no why. had a great time with it.
The Linksys Wakey Remake is fine but is confirming my feelings from playing the original a few years ago. It’s cool and weird but not that engaging mechanically. Which gets me to think Majora is really not fun, which gets me to thinking if they released Ocarina on switch I would buy and play it immediately.
I got an import copy of River City Melee Mach for Christmas, and it rules if you’re like me and think Hot Blooded Fighting Legend for the Famicom is one of the best party games ever if I could only find a willing party.
I finished the story mode with Kunio’s team last night and no sign of Abobo yet among any of the 180 or so characters…
At the risk of starting a Zelda thread, I had to think about this. Zipping along as Deku Link, cutting the optimal path between lily pads, spin-attacking predatory flowers. Goron Link barrelling through enemies, picking up magic refills to continue grinding through the snow. The tension of needing to be in the right spot at exactly the right time. Majora’s Mask is the game most willing to let you burn yourself in pursuit of the ability to breathe fire. I think there’s fun here, but it’s precarious.
My nephews had the Switch Money they’ve been saving Together At Last for Christmas and their folks anticipated this by buying a Switch so the kids could “buy” it off of them. Then they gave them the games they wanted most for it (Mario and Zelda) as gifts.
My sister said she just didn’t want to go to a Best Buy on December 27th, the allotted Day of Purchase, christ.
They did not play at all because Guests but wanted to tell me all about their gamesperiences and were truly shocked by the news that Ganon has at times been a Pig Man, etc.
Steam told me someone bought Hylics recently, which prompted me to start it. It’s very crudely balanced, so at the start I was sweating over every battle until I got enough powers to make them trivial (and then repeat in the next area until I learned the new enemies’ movesets). By the end of the game, you explode wandering monsters instead of encountering them, which I appreciated.
I got stuck fighting Ghosts in the graveyard, and checked a walkthrough: you just kite them away from where you want to go and run past them! In retrospect, a lot of the levels before this were designed with this in mind (and I had done it naturally), and the rest of the graveyard area plays with it explicitly.
i have this downloaded and unplayed on the Switch along with River City Girls, and STAY COOL, KOBAYASHI-SAN!: A RIVER CITY RANSOM STORY which I tried playing for like 3 minutes and was overwhelmed and confused by
went back over for Boxing Day (extremely important to my English Brother In Law who until recently was in the employ of a ridiculously rich person) and the boys were full of Zelda Tales and one of them asked if I had seen the “pixel Zelda” and this meant Screenshots of Zeldas Through The Ages To Blow Your Mind
WHAT DID YOU EVEN DO?
cried the 9 year old when faced with a screen from Legend of Zelda
I’m going full AAA backlog this holiday, have been alternating God of War 2018 with Mario Odyssey, getting the deluxe adult toy experience
both are very good, it’s always funny when you ignore these until you don’t because it’s impossible to have an intelligent thought about either after that
I might get to death stranding in like February
I also finally switched my PS4 to a powerline Ethernet adapter because I was so sick of its doodoo 2.4ghz wifi and now it is no longer a blemish on my lan paradise
I don’t really want to deal with waiting for the game to slowly afford me the abilities to actually, fully play it. I will come back to it. But today, I don’t have the patience.
Also, its pretty crashy on PC and that’s been really annoying.
My brother and my nephew (different brother’s kid) are staying with me for a few days, and we have been playing through old arcade games. We’ve been mainly focusing on games that support three players.
Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker (My nephew had never heard of Michael Jackson.)
Turtles in Time (We played the original TMNT arcade game the last time my nephew visited.)
Pig Out (We quit this one before finishing it. I used to like to play it in the arcade, but it gets old after a few stages.)
Captain Commando (We’ve played through this one several times before.)
