what is this defeatism. if dying puts you back with full health what’s the downside to seeing if this is the fight you win through on a sliver of health. fortune favors the bold
i finished part 1 and my conclusion is this is a standard cover shooter with a slow down mechanic i barely used because it was better just to shoot from behind cover
cover mechanics; worse or worst things to happen to videogames??
“what is this defeatism. if dying puts you back with full health what’s the downside to seeing if this is the fight you win through on a sliver of health. fortune favors the bold”
i did do this, and the times i died i felt i should have just reloaded a checkpoint
NEXT
also it feels racist
It feels like a standard cover shooter because you’re never using the slow down mechanic and always taking cover, the exact opposite of what you should be doing
well then maybe the game should be better designed around the mechanics
look if y’all like the game that’s cool, i can definitely see things to like, but i’m not jiving with it at all. dems the breaks
Are we talking about Vanquish again?
what do you mean by shootdodging, like bullet time or those dives? i certainly never felt invincible. OKAY i will give the game another chance if y’all tell me how it’s supposed to be played (because the game didn’t explain it well enough, it seems!!) i like vanquish. mdk is the best third person shooter tho
i’ve moved onto heavy rain now, everyone dunks on the writing but why didn’t anyone tell me how silly the controls are
i laughed when the kid died because of how heavily foreshadowed it all was i guess i’m a bad person (also i hate children) (also it’s not real)
i am enjoying it though because i like adventure games, especially when bad puzzle design is stripped out (however i like good puzzle design)
i felt the same way about max payne 2 for about a week when i played it without shootdodging because i was like 7 years old and stupid
Play like this guy
(there’s other ways to play)
I started playing Sonic Mania and, as a person who has given Sonic 1 a bunch of shots but never really clicked with it, I’m not sure if I finally Get and Like Sonic Now or if Sonic Mania is actually way preferable for me.
sonic mania does have way more consistent level design that brings out its strengths than any of the original games on their own, it’s easily the best thing about it
Yeah it is easily Objectively The Best One.
(Still a Sonic 2 human over here)
sonic mania is a true gift
There is deal with that game awards thing where a bunch of two day demos for various games were put up on steam and one of them was Skatebird and I like skating games so I figured why not.
They label as it as in progress and full of bugs but that they hope you have fun and… I did not. I am now worried that Skatebird might end up being awful which would be another one of those darkest timeline events.
“play like this guy” is understandable but really offputting as even just a motivation to try playing a game, idk
sometimes ya just don’t click with a game even though you may wanna like it
Or as I call it, Sekiro Syndrome
Yeah, it was off-putting! I may give it another try, because I really do want to like it, but I think it’s just not a match for me.
The health packs also really ARE a problem for me though, because they are very small and I have trouble parsing cluttered visuals so it’s easy for me to miss them even if I turn the glow on
Also I’m enjoying heavy rain so maybe i should just leave
