They’re all shooters designed by Compile, the company profiled in the video that @meauxdal shared. They have a lot of connective tissue in that they usually have more than five shots that you can power up, extends are generous, and stages have lots of popcorn enemies and destructible features. Some games even have adaptive difficulty systems that adjust according to how powered up you are and how much you fire.
Aside from Zanac and Power Strike, they’re all great shooters for beginners to build skills in.

I set a timer for 25 minutes to practice and this is the run I got at the end. I think I’ll play like this until I go a week without breaking my high score. Then, it’ll be on to Aleste.

i gotta question for all you scoreheads out there. i set a top score of 10 million in ghost pilots due to credit feeding the game for practice. killing the final boss has a 10mil bonus. now i see that stupid score at the top all the time… should i just wipe my scores so i can see my real high score at the top (the next time i PB at least) or just leave it
if it bothers you that the top score isn’t your personal best i don’t see why you’d have to keep it

i do want to keep my bookkeeping stuff so i think i’ll turn on the setting that wipes high scores every 24 hours. that way it will still retain my other arcade stats: plays and continues per day, avg playtime per day/month, cool stuff
