I tend to like Compile’s style. I love shooters that allow me to change speed on the fly. One gripe I tend to have is that the first stage is usually too easy and a fully powered up ship lulls me into a false sense of security. However! Playing on advanced difficulty brings things a lot closer to my skill level and really I’m excited to chase some high scores
I played this in Mesen with a Xbox One controller so take it as you may. Things get really ridiculous on Stage 3! I’m playing in Advanced.

This has a very different powerup system from MUSHA but it is similarly rad. I think I’m going to be returning to these two a lot.

What the hell? How is this game so good? My score is from a special mode where every flying enemy, including missiles, fires a parting shot. The added bullets caused slowdown but I found it introduced an interesting rhythm. It felt more like purposeful bullet-time than a flaw in the programming.
Space Megaforce (Normal): 2,068,300
A very Star Soldier Compile shooter. Stage 5 becomes a real puzzle of maneuvering.
