So uh i started Dragon Quarter. the combat is very slow paced and difficult. I enjoyed it though it took some getting used to, and i already did a Shit Outta Luck Restart – which is an interesting, strange feature. It makes the game feel like… a reverse roguelike?
Anyway i was enjoying myself but then right after Ryu and Bosch get split up, the game locked up on a loading screen and it kept doing it no matter how many times i reset :
i will try to fix the disc later this week. It’d be a shame if i couldn’t continue, because what i played so far was intriguing at least.
I played a little Disgaea afterwards, and remembered that i have barely played tactics RPGs and i’m not very good at them. There are a lot of neat things you can do right from the off, like throw allies and do chain combos and blow up colored panels for bonus prizes. It’s a little overwhelming, but i like the number of options at my fingertips.
The story seems terrible but i can put it in Japanese and skip it, so it’s tolerable terrible.
please, please play this > w > ;
my bias is pretty clear cut but i love this game and
think more pple should give it a pass shot.
it’s kind of strange because the controls make it seem like it wants to be an mmo. i honestly think that xii was practice for what to make after xi and like a prototype to xiv. if you don’t like star wars ignore the plot and just go hunting and fill up your sky pirate’s den ( achievements ). the lore is probably not groundbreaking but if you like ivalice at all, then go for it.
there’s plenty buried behind quest kills and such.
I just ordered a FMCB memory card myself the other day for the first time. Do you run your games of discs or a HDD? I heard running them from a flash drive can create long load times.
that seems pretty convenient. right now i have like 100 games loaded onto my hard drive, taking up roughly 75% of the space; i have probably 30 more isos i could put on there, but its mostly sequels and stuff that i’m waiting to load on there until i’ve beaten the previous games in the series. were my hdd smaller (i think mine is 350 GB? it is not the stock drive that came with the adapter, just one i bought that had confirmed compatibility), that’d be a lot more appealing, but i already get overwhelmed just booting into OPL and looking at that giant list of games; having even more choice would completely immobilize me. still, it’s interesting.
answer to your question: no, i don’t know anything about that!
p.s. i do want this pretty badly. there’s a parallel-equipped ps1 sitting in my dad’s cabinet that i’m trying to use with this
I got myself a slim PS2 and put a 16GB USB stick in it. Works real well for most CD-based games (which is like all of the Simple series games). Gotta convert them with a command line tool called iat.exe to make bin+cue files into ISOs, otherwise OPL doesn’t boot them. PAL games can be patched to run at 60Hz with ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix.exe and a y-offset of 48.
what worked:
Bomberman Hardball
Chulip
G1 Jockey 3
Gallop Racer 2001
Global Defence Force Tactics
Growlanser II
Growlanser III
Maze Action
Metropolismania
Road Rage 3
Simple 2000 Vol. 104: Robot Fight
Tokyo Road Race
Winback
Wizardry
what didn’t work:
Bomberman Kart
Metropolismania 2
Otostaz
Though I should try copying those again, defragmentation can cause games not to load.
i’m currently having flashbacks to the time i saw God Hand in my hometown bookstore (games section) for $15 and didn’t buy it, because i am the most stupid asshole on Earth
