Hardware To Be a God

Does NVMe vs SATA really matter yet performance-wise?

enormously (modern drives are close to 10x faster), and yet you’d probably never notice if you haven’t had one

absolutely baffled by the fact that pc part picker does not appear to have a way to filter SSDs which are PCIe 4.0

ours literally only has one on the back, our case is openly ventilated on that side though thankfully

is my new iphone negging me when it won’t unlock while i’m smiling

Hmm I should’ve gotten an NVMe for my last workstation SSD upgrade then, although I suspect the CPU is still the bottleneck on compiles and the network on git syncs so maybe it’s basically fine even for that kind of workload. I just urgently needed more disk space and wanted minimal install hassle so I went SATA

me too but for real every time it gets a false negative and you put in the pin it adjusts the model

I had to redo the initial setup altogether recently, maybe due to hair?

it’s all fun and games with a 300w GPU until your HVAC breaks and it feels like cooking over a gas stove

just undervolt lol

how can wattage be real if your tuning isn’t real lmao

Will they start regulating this stuff when Nvidia makes 500 watt cards for 2% extra performance

California already regulates power consumption in computers to an extent

@Felix realized I’ve been running into that powertoys input latency bug running excel on my Thinkpad lol

I just want my caps to be control is this so much to ask

With this mobile laptop GPUs should I really be looking at anything more than the RTX 3060?

Promise I’ll be out of this thread soon.

imo no – laptop GPU specs are always kind of hand wavy compared to desktop models because GPUs are more thermally constrained than any other part, so I don’t even know what they’re considering a 3060, but I don’t think anything larger is really viable as a laptop and a ~3060 should meet minimum specs for PS5 ports for a long time

a mobile (lower power) 3070 is roughly equivalent to a 3060 fwiw

just use sharpkeys to remap them in the registry!!! totally nuts that they wouldn’t do it that way

On Windows I use a tool called AutoHKey to do this.
