you just gotta make up your own stupid co op rules. back in the day me and my friend played co op on legendary with the house rule stipulation that we could never stop moving forward for any reason.

i beat halo 2 on legendary with a friend approximately once in 2005 and i will give bungie credit, they really found a way to make a miserable experience even worse

2nd what ppl said about remastered graphics being bad - almost garishly brightly lit, cartoony, disguise the underlying geometry etc. it’s tougher to aim at an elite when the shields break on new graphics, because of the new shield break visual effect. i also am annoyed that there’s no option to use the original sound effects. compare:
… annoying how metallic and ratchety the pistol draw sounds. there’s also no option to disable the medals display or use the older health bar, which is imo more legible than the new one. but hey, u get used to it i guess.
im still going thru the campaign, halo 1 still a joy. legendary feels so good still. combat flow is just really really good.
(sidenote I will defend Halo 2 legendary, the combat flow when you really get into it is fantastic - it just requires a lot of knowledge of enemy spawns which can turn some people off. the grueling difficulty is the whole draw of it for me.)
reach is pretty okay i guess, the core combat dynamic is still fun. i think a lot of the levels are pretty naff still.

Halo CE
Shield flare: glows with intensity when Elite takes damage; fades with time.
Shield break: shields spark and disappear as Elite flinches, shooting no longer causes shield flare, making clear visual distinction between shielded/unshielded.
Halo CE Anniversary
Shield flare: None to speak of.
Shield break: shields burst in light around Elite; once burst subsides, shooting the elite looks the same as before.
I contend that Halo CE’s visuals make for better gameplay.
wow, they missed making the shields flash when taking shielded damage in the remake? Does that happen with Spartans in multiplayer?
I stand very slightly corrected in that there is a shield flare, but it’s miniscule and easy to miss unless you’re way up close.

also they changed some of the camera angles in the cinematics, most notably in the first cutscene on the pillar of autumn, where instead of cutting to Cortana’s face, they keep the camera on her back view until she turns around
ALSO they got rid of keyes’ signature pipe which he’s not allowed to smoke on board the ship! lore DELETED (nvm i see it later on)
they really lean heavy into the “Keyes as old Chris Pine” vibe

afaik they didn’t remaster the graphics for the multiplayer, so the shield visuals are the same as the original Halo CE.
Ok, that makes more sense; if all of QA is already breezing through single player on Legendary I can see no one remembering to tighten that (it’s still very sloppy), but my memory is that it’s so important to multiplayer, especially in the first game with its health bars, that competitive testers should have raised hell.
Didn’t it ship with Halo 4 or Halo Reach multiplayer, only to later get its own multiplayer back?
the original anniversary release had halo reach firefight and MP on classic halo maps, MCC has original halo multiplayer (thank god, reach pvp is awful)
