Zoom and Shoot is also correct because that’s what Hitman does.
the face buttons should only be mapped to controls that put you in a non-shooting state. taking your thumb off the right stick to jump is like if in counter strike i had to take my hand off the mouse to press the space bar
if you claw grip like me then it’s a moot argument
Index finger on face buttons?
the right hand path of the one true MonHun PSP Classic grip
I play dark souls with two claw grips
Was playing through Halo CE on legendary with my brother. We reached The Library, which as you’ll recall is the worst thing ever to happen.
We slog through this goddamn level for what felt like two hours, and reach one of those new cutscene panels. We press it, watch the thing, and then return to find ourselves somehow de-synced, existing in different universes. Re-loading checkpoints does nothing. We then enter into a fate worse than death: Re-playing the entirety of The Library.
Really drove home how lame fighting the flood is in Halo. I get the idea, but god, they are a pain in the ass, particularly the exploding pod carriers. I know I give the Prometheans a lot of shit but the Flood really are the worst enemy in Halo canon.
Probably the main reason ODST and Reach are the highlights of the Halo series is because you exclusively fight Covvies.
If the flood were just the bipedal forms and you always had a shotgun it could be a fun way to break up covenant sections but the pods and facehuggers are so irritating.
Not happy that they may show up in Infinite
We’re on Halo 2 now and our initial impressions are:
-
These remastered cutscenes look incredible.
-
The remastered sound work is way, way worse than the originals. Even series staples like the energy sword has been reduced in oomph. I’ve got no problem with changing the sound, but they fucked up.
-
The default control scheme for mouse and keyboard is the single most baffling thing I’ve ever seen.
-
I like the remastered weapon skins a lot. The Covvie Carbine looks great, finally visually fitting its power. The sentinel laser, on the other hand, has a cool model but looks weak compared to the original when firing. Glad they took a swing at re-vamping some of these, even if the results are mixed.

UHH DID YOU GUYS NOTICE THIS ABSOLUTELY OUT-OF-THE-BLUE NU-METAL TRACK JUST KICKING IN ON LEVEL 3?
what the fuck
Switch the audio to classic on the High Charity level for a nu-metal track written and performed for the game by Breaking Benjamin
the original is incubus lol, Marty o Donnell got incubus, breaking Benjamin and Steve Vai to contribute to the ost. I assume the remaster didn’t have the rights to the songs,
Y’all know about Paul McCartney in Destiny, right? That’s the end game of Bungie pop music collabs.
There’s an Easter egg in Destiny 2 where this plays on the jukebox in an alien saloon. It is absolutely absurd.
Anyway, Steve Vai’s drop on the Halo 2 theme is fucking great.
“follow” is especially silly because you can fly straight to the right most tower and skip the entire escort sequence
I clearly remember the moment that the Incubus song kicks in during that High Charity civil war fight as being one of the most tonally jarring things I’d ever seen.
only the strongest will survive ~
take me to heaven when we die ~~
it’s always good to remember that, like Bill Simmons, Marty is fundamentally just a white guy from the 80’s
don’t want to take away from the fact that this talk is great tho. thanks to the Beatles “Yesterday” for giving us the halo theme
The sprint haters are probably going to hate the grappling hook even more but I’m excited for the verticality and speed
As someone who plays Halo casually w/ friends for 6ish months after a Halo comes out this looks good to me!
In 2021 Halo is basically the only game that exists at the arena scale that still has a large enough audience to be played casually. Everything else is a counter strike or a battle royale now.
Never been as big of a fan of the big team battle vehicle stuff in Halo but it still works as a change of pace / palette cleanser.
Apex Arenas is fun! But yeah.
