Guilty Gear Strive is the best fighting game I've ever played

Twitter’s trying hard to make “instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the beasts” memes happen but nothing’s particularly funny yet smh

Briefly thought of rewriting South Park blame Canada song lyrics and I should reflect on myself for having such an abjectly unfunny idea

Heavenly Potemkin Bustering a Millia to do the last pixel of damage, is there any finer reward for blocking all. that. shit.

I played a lot of this over the weekend. I think I want to try what @Broco does and cycle through characters. I had a fun silly tournament of mirror matches with two of my friends to decide who gets to play as which characters. Those were false stakes by the way. It was funny to win a few of those mirror matches with characters I had never tried before like Ky and Leo. Part of me just wants to remain as a Zato player for style, but I also want to win…

ino remains a brutal matchup for me if you want to run some sets, broco. gotta learn it somehow.

Thanks for offering but I’m still hanging out around 6F for now. It may be a bad matchup for you but probably not enough to make sets particularly meaningful at this stage. I’ll get back in touch if and when I get up to 8F or so

(Might take a while, not because I’m at a plateau yet, but because I only have time to play once or twice a week)

Ive realised I just like playing big guys and eventually tried Nagoriyuki. I love being relatively slow and having reach and that’s all there is to it.

vip babyyyyyyyyyyy

tried this game, don’t really love it, feels a lot like guilty gear always has to me, ie overly technical, overly anime, and possessed of enough depth that it doesn’t really need to add hooks for accessibility.

I do like calling the guy you fight in the tutorial “ky kishke”

idk about that. floors are all over the place right now anyway, and I really do suck at the matchup. I got rolled by a 6f ino yesterday like 3 or 4 to 7. I also kinda think that this early on you can still learn quite a bit from unbalanced sets on either side. I went 8-0 against a 6f May without much experience in that matchup, then later I played a 10f May, started 0-4 and then won 10 in a row. I really doubt I’m winning those 10 without the earlier sets against the lower May.

dude i am so over ramlethal and nagoriyuki grabbing me from like halfway across the screen, then when i try to do it as chipp, suddenly he has a case of tyrannosaurus arms.

I am exactly not good enough to hit celestial, I’ve got that permanent up arrow portrait on 10f. I just want to lame in once for the screenshot, game. don’t make me figure out how to lab things.

never mind, I got demoted instead. by ino. for the third time.

I found out that this is completely meaningless. Like, I had the 10f up arrow again, won 2-0 against a Chipp who then lost the connection, and my up arrow was gone.

My loop is basically

  • Start the night on 8F
  • Go on a tear and win like 15 games to bump myself to 10f
  • Find a 10f Sol that fries my brain
  • Tilt
  • Lose to that same sol 6-12 times until I get bumped down to 8f again

I never had ranked anxiety until celestial was in my reach. Sometimes the game is like “You can go into celestial!” But when I go in there despite looking like the celestial lobby it’s labelled and seems to work like the park ??? I think my rank is bugged or something.

Despite all this though I’m having a crazy amount of fun and feel like I’m learning a lot. I’m doing a lot better against ram and chipp and I’m finally blocking kys 5k low which used to just kill me for free

wait, i can go to the celestial floor but I never remember getting a notification that I was promoted. can anyone just go there if they feel like it, like the lower floors? I thought celestial was the exception and you had to actually be promoted to even enter. maybe I missed it, idk.

god help me I just played 50 pot mirrors

I’m guessing you qualified for the VIP trial at least once but didn’t get notified cuz the servers bugged out. It should say if it’s active if you fight someone there.

Sometimes celestial is available to me, sometimes it ain’ I have no clue why. Maybe I should hang out there more, since the players are much much better, but I only go up when I qualify for the VIP trial

Which I still haven’t fucking cleared, half the time I get up there I end up fighting some 200+ ping/7f rollback asshole Milla or Chipp from another continent, it’s fucking demoralizing
