Is the cancelled prototypes thing true or is it just a gimmick? If so I feel weird talking shit about the Fantasy Zone remake but like… the aesthetic is literally THE THING about Fantasy Zone. Why would you eliminate the part of the game that makes it wonderful?

Space Harrier technically takes place in that same world, right? That’s what I’ve been led to believe by the words of a mysterious announcer (who is also quick to offer encouraging words between Amar and Ceiceil).

Golden Axe(d) is a prototype, as it says in its name, and most likely came from the same intiative that the Castle of Illusion remake came from (being that they share Sega Australia for devs). the other three are just Sega having fun with franchises they own (Endless Zone is a mashup of Endless Space and FZ)
also something something it was just Defender anyway so the EZ aesthetic is just going back to the OG
