Got a selection of GOOD STEALS on sale, stranger! (Part 1)

idk if this is part of my “I don’t like to have to use a desktop most of the time because I work better if I can move around from my couch to my bed and my deck all day” situation, but I’ve never once been in a living situation where trying to prioritize ethernet wouldn’t have been a massive, only-contextually-useful mess

And I couldn’t stand having to think about my network more than once

I finally figured out that I hate troubleshooting electronics if I’m not getting paid for it and wifi is basically made out of ghosts

whereas I only hate it while I’m getting paid for it

If I ever own a house (ha) I’m drilling holes through every wall and running hundreds of feet of cable I do not give a single fuck. I was basically deprived of online multiplayer for most of my adult life because of shitty WiFi (and low speed internet plans too I guess) while at the mercy of landlords.

I feel like that ship has probably sailed but I’d love to watch some Netflix that doesn’t stall out or get all low quality all the time.

I remember that brief moment when every newly wired house had ethernet ports in most every room, but wifi killed that and honestly it sucks. If I ever own a house (also ha), I’m gonna get wacky with my cables (probably gonna do some weird shit with HDMI cables and splitters too).

YOU CAN HAVE 2GBIT WIFI

felix some of us don’t live in a condo with non-existent floor/wall insulation

my kitchen floor looks good as new after putting cat5 down, no joists or beams in the way hurray

don’t tell anyone who plays fighting games online

just buy mesh stuff

good idea, I’ll just need a backbone to link them

currently I have 3 AP and generally get good signal from 1 in each room, also one of them for whatever reason drops TCP streams from my phone

I never want to have to think about channel interference or doing a site survey ever again. instead! how 2 fish & terminate fibre and which SFP+ modules to buy

And my computer will decide it doesn’t like WiFi semi-regularly, a problem I’ve had with nearly every computer since the dawn of wireless internet

Games age faster on PSN, it’s like that episode of voyager where the planet has faster time than anywhere else

Outer Wilds can drive now

I’ve got a friend who swears by those AC network adapters, but that shit could kill an elephant.

Do you mean powerline adapters? I’ve been using those for years and they’ve been a godsend for letting me play fighting games without having to use wifi. Have had no issues with speed and latency.

they max out at like 200mbps in the most favourable circumstances though, they’re fine if you have like a base model ps4 (which I use mine for) or just can’t otherwise avoid drops on wifi, but they aren’t really competitive with 5ghz and up

i just live in a small enough place that a single airport extreme is fine, though i should probably replace that sometime soon huh

the intel puma thing my isp send out is notoriously bad even by isp router standards

Good Switch sales at the mo; Turoks are half price (get the 1st one) and Sine Mora is £6!

Hades is 20% off as well, really debating wether or not I need that
