god, i'm so sorry (superhero-comicbook nonsense)

most spider man stuff is covered under the Sony movie rights thing iirc, however my hot take is actually they don’t seriously give a fuck about miles and are mainly happy he exists so they can say a black person is in their shit. He’s useful but not to be taken too seriously of course PETE is still our perpetually 30 year old main character

The Miles movies have the right idea with assassinating or daddy daycare-ing all the remaining petes. I didn’t even like the most recent Spiderverse sequel that much compared to the first one (mainly due to all the incredibly long multiverse reference scenes) but it had more real human emotion in it than anything else they seem to be doing with pete

Unrelated: there was a guy at my college named Pete Piderman (pronounced “pee-der-man”) who played football. I was in the marching band and we all used to absolutely lose our shit in the stands whenever he was mentioned by the commentators

Miles was created specifically so that Sony couldn’t use him, so there’s probably some weird manoevering that got Peter into MCU that lets Sony use Miles but puts some harsh limits on how he appears.

I kinda hope the Madame Web movie does well and Sony goes absolutely crazy with Spiderperson movies as a result.

I definitely do not hope that

it’s so funny to think about when the phase 1 MCU was coming out and people were already frothing at the idea of spiderman being in there and the amount of time between then and when they made that legally happen on-screen and now not only is the MCU fatigue more broadly widespread, we’re about to come up to the fatigue of “there’s too many Spidermans or NonSpidermans within a Spiderman to Spiderman interconnected Universe”. like some kind of capitalist group manifesting

I would love a movie about such as Spiders-Man, a colony of spiders who collectively form a human intelligence like the Geth or something:

the great thing about marvel is that that isn’t the only character with the name spiders-man, but it’s also not the only character who is a humanoid colony of spiders

there’s also spiders-man of earth 9997, a guy with a skin condition that happens to look like spider-man’s costume, and has the power to cast “webs of illusion” over people

and earth-616 itself has carl king, who figured out that spider-man was peter parker and how he got his powers shortly after his first appearance. so soon afterwards in fact, that he went to the venue that held the exhibition where pete got bitten by the radionactive spider, and found and ate its corpse off the floor. this turned him into the thtousand, a colony of spiders that had his memories and wore his skin

I just want a movie of wherever this is from. It’s got a good vibe.

Isn’t this the plan for the first Spider-Verse spin-off?

Man I was like “wow Silk looks kind of cool” once (she’s the one with the phone) and then I read the comic in which they introduce her, where it’s revealed that she was locked in a bunker for 6 years and whenever peter parker gets close to her they try to have sex!!!

Why is this all done with one set of character designs? So weird.

And why do they all look like they’re from an episode of Archer?

i hadn’t watched tha t trailer until now, and yeah: that doesn’t look like an adaptation of an iconic storyline, it looks like a low budget adult swim comedy.

Let’s just use this as an excuse for everyone to check out the fourth Crow movie Wicked Prayer where Frank Booth calls Satan “homie” while officiating a wedding for Angel and the lady from American Pie.

that’s the one directed by the director of Six String Samurai
