the interview where scorsese says he doesn’t like super hero movies is apparently making waves on the internet which is kind of precious
i mean obviously he is right but it also kind of weirds me out that so many of these lovers of The Cinema are apparently unable to understand the pleasures of shallow episodic entertainment. like i thought fetishizing the golden age of silent film-era serials was what these old dudes were all about.
like how can a guy who got lost in a howard hughes biopic vanity project not get that watching stuff fly around and blow up on screen is fun
if I were Martin Scorsese I would relish the opportunity to seem like a crank
