have any of you heard of from software’s dark souls?!
particularly the stardust crusaders rpg
marathon
Minecraft?
Dog you flip that quasi-irony straight on out the way you talk you love that game even though you know you are alone.
you should all play nintendoland, probably, if you can. the versus games are fantastic
I knew someone who thought Xenogears was the greatest game ever made and relentlessly hyped it.
That was just after it’s release.
That was almost twenty years ago.
I’m so old.
I’d recommend Steambot Chronicles. Some of the vocal songs are bad (in an otherwise great soundtrack) but otherwise the game has a lot going for it. I never tried being a bad guy, but the title screen says that you can.
I have not played a lot of “open world” games, but I like the way this one lets you explore and take or leave any of the optional aspects of the game that you come across. Wandering the streets is nice and atmospheric, and there’s at least one clever and somewhat-subtle reference to R-Type.
no
I already tried to get people to play the c-word
like, two of you took me up on it
it’s not worth trying
Everyone should play Riven. Just sit down and get into it. I don’t know that there’s a convenient way to do this in 2016.
Its on gog.com
It is as convenient as a game will ever get
You won’t even need to swap discs!
Gosh is that one piece of the CD-ROM era I’m glad is gone
I don’t know I like the texture event it gives. I am changing discs. I am making definite progress. When is the disc change going to happen. Some games made this really cool, others didn’t.
Riven’s package was so nice and each disc represented something. It was also definitely part of the game of teaching you something you had to figure out in the game. If you didnt’ figure it out in the game, the answer was right there on the individual discs.
Also the annoyance sometimes made you stay on one island longer to god damn it solve this puzzle here.
Returning to Riven the hardest puzzle (and SBers that have also played recently confirmed this) is doors .
Just that one set of doors. I wouldnt say it was a hard puzzle so much as an unfair one, whereas the rest of the game is absurdly fair.
It isn’t even a puzzle! I’m just saying the most trouble I had with the game is doors.
Dammit this whole time I thought y’all were talking about that spiritual successor to Gothic. I mix up those titles so easily.
I will also continue to rep Dragon View. Large, finely detailed, stiffly animated sprites. A nice little mashup of genres. Genuine mystery with the spooky flat-shaded polygon first-person exploration. Decent, though simple beltscroll action complemented discretely by the RPG-lite numbers. It’s basically everything I like about the SNES in one package.
