I understand in grand scheme that this is Earth-### and not connected to any other canon except when we say it is like in Sonyās completely unrelated Spiderverse movies
but Iām reminded of that panel from the run where Ock is in Parkerās body and itās him not realizing Peterās strength and punching some guyās jaw off and realizing that, no, Peter could have murdered him and all the other assholes around him without thinking about it but heās actually pulling his punches
anyway it seems weird for a game that wants to jump into recreating the fiction enough that they would include Hard Mode Web Swinging not make Spider-Man hideously powerful (The Superman Design Paradox)
I get heās pulling his punches but it drastically improves things to make regular people not take 12-16 pulled porks on the default difficulty. To some extent I think the average player couldnāt care less about how the canonical power level relates to combat engagement. It is a lot more fun to just breeze through combat that otherwise insists on a relatively high time to kill to prod players to engage with its unnecessary complexity.
kamen rider battride war is a kamen rider musou game. itās pretty good, though incredibly easy.
super street fighter 2 turbo hd remix is weird in bad ways. thereās no score in arcade mode, and the āyou win!/you lose!ā voiceover sound incredibly cheap and ill-fitting. a common criticism when it came out is that it looked and felt like a cheap knock off flash game, and it totally does
It is funny to imagine spider man pulling his punches specifically to be able to punch someone in the head 15 times before knocking them out. He just likes violence
Finished Exhumed. I started to get some gnarly sprite flicker about 70% of the way through the game, making it basically unplayable. I had to switch shading mode to āmodulateā to fix it. I also had some audio bugs with elevators and door soundsā¦ I Played it in handheld mode on a Switch oled; Iām kind of surprised to see one of these ND games being so buggy.
Finished (well, minus the handful of Special World stages) Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Iā¦liked it? Pretty fun, limited myself to a couple of stages at a time, usually trying to 100% them as best I could.
Not gonna say I didnāt struggle with doing that (some of those stages/badge challenges are brutal, especially if youāre going for 100%), but it was pretty easy.
I think maybe the only thing I can really hold against the game is that a lot of the stages are rock solid until you hit the Wonder Flower point. The little stage gimmicks and events those present are fun and neat, but upon replay, if you opt to skip it (at least in the ones that let you), the remaining un-Wonder Flowered stage is usually pretty weak?
Like, obviously they want you to seek those out! See that spectacle! But sometimes you just need to hit the top of the flagpole, and seeing the rest of the level just kinda go limp is a bummer.
Ah well! I enjoyed it. Maybe now Iāll finally try to āget goodā at Super Mario World, or give Bros. U Deluxe another shake (probably not, haha).
Well I am fairly certain I am not gonna finish RE 7 by the time Halloween ends (work all day tomorrow and have some actual Halloween stuff to do once night falls the day of) but I think Iāve made it fairly far all things considered. I am sort of half-worried that this is less my fault and more the fault of the game going a bit longer than it should, I just finished the bit where you play as Mia both in flashback and current day (I chose to save her, game is perhaps wildly different if I did not) and while not bad it does feel very removed from the experience up to this point. TBF the layout here is more interesting due to the āverticalityā but as a place/environment it isnāt as interesting as what had come before.
had absolutely the worst first time experience trying out Back4Blood. I just wanted to check out the level design a little, I really like Left4Dead level design so I thought at the very least there may be some cool set pieces or arenas. And itās free on PSN. I didnāt get that far though.
it was like 10 minutes of me and some random dude with his controllerās mic blaring, standing around while an objective trigger failed to fire. then it randomly fired and thigns started moving. and during the waves of zombies the three others all got wailed on in different corners of the map. then i got onto the objective, but was grabbed and held in place losing health, and the others just walked around and never noticed. and finally when we finished the objective it was time to go. and the car that would drive us to the exit of the map seemed to just stop letting players inside. i closed the game when it got to that. and all the characters were saying shit like āyou think this is my happy face??? ahaha! THIS is my happy face.ā and āheās gonna feel THAT in the morning!!!ā
gonna give World War Z a shot.
Like all squad based games itās much better with a group of people you know. Not that b4b is anything more than okay even then.
the same can also be said of wwz fwiw because if your team doesnāt understand that itās a stealth game itās completely torturous or just kind of a bad l4d game at best, but if you get a decent group it can be at least interesting (different) compared to l4d
Itās been a while and maybe they patched it up but when I played the b4b demo I found it a straight downgrade from l4d in literally every area, including graphics, which is insane
L4D is the original arcade smash hit
B4B is the Amiga port made by a 16 year old in his bedroom commissioned by Ocean that turned out better than the above statement would imply
WWZ is the TI-83 homebrew version of L4D
B4B did get a lot better when they decided to give you full builds at the start of campaigns instead of piecemealing them out over maps, so now you can just have the broken melee or shotgun builds from the get-go instead of ramping up
your enjoyment of B4B with randoms will increase one hundredfold if you stick the card that makes you immune to friendly fire while crouching into every deck
itās me, the B4B liker and defender has logged on
These special levels in Mario Wonder are hell. They get ya leaning on checkpoints the whole game and then rip the rug out from under ya on these in particular. Probably spent more lives trying to just finish them than I did the entire game.
On the second to last one and I think I might be good. This might be enough for me.
Pivoted back to Sonic Superstars andā¦I dunno yāall. I just dunno about this one.
Played a run of World of Horror and couldnāt get past how cluttered the UI is. I think the 1-bit doesnāt help and it feels like something thatās not really made it past āonly the dev ever looked at the game prior to releaseā. But I know this canāt be true because I bought the game in early access like 11 years ago. Also nothing much of note ever happens. You have a spooky event and make some choices and then combat occasionally happens but youāre constantly told thereās not really any hope of beating anything so I donāt feel motivated to persist.
