Games You Played Today ver.1.22474487139...

when i played the first horizon, i found changing the voice acting to polish greatly enhanced the experience (note: i cannot understand polish. if you can, try a different language)

AAA voice acting is much better in a language that you only somewhat understand, you can treat it like duolingo

If they must talk, I like to interject ā€œwhatever!ā€ and ā€œthatā€™s going a bit too far!ā€ while zooming in and out on the characterā€™s faces or making them bob their heads

Ideally I literally possess their bodies and render them mute outside of curt dialogue choices or a single sentence

on a related note, there should be a word for the incoherent pile of first-phoneme-in-each-word sounds created by button mashing through souls (and other AAA voice acted games but theyā€™re the best for it) npc dialogue

iā€™m playing yakuza 6 and in the b-tier voiced dialogue sequences (as in anytime the game isnā€™t in full-on lavish Cutscreen Mode) thereā€™s an ā€œA: SKIPā€ prompt that will take you to the next line, as if they were snes rpg dialogue boxes. and the prompt doesnā€™t appear until about a second into the current voiced line. so effectively thereā€™s just a big fucking skip prompt flashing on and off constantly during half the shit. itā€™s deranged

i played the last bubsy game with quips turned all the way up (YOU GIVE ME A BUBSY CATCHPHRASE SLIDER AND TELL ME NOT TO? WHO DO YOU THINK I AM) and ive never had a whole house of people mad at me so fast

i am a supporter of sliders for optional dialogue and hint dialogue for sure

This is the 3D N64 game yeah?

Iā€™d say I could never keep the English names straight but it isnā€™t like I remember the Japanese names either.

Missing phone time due to super fast loads has been my biggest problem with next gen consoles. I canā€™t browse the internet while playing video games as easily anymore and I end up paying more attention to the game itself at all times. I canā€™t tell if any of this reads like a complaint or a compliment.

Playing ā€œI Am Aliveā€ makes me think every one freaked out about ludo narrative dissonance because it was getting too close to the truth. Weird dumb white guy mutters about how cruel people can be while murdering 100,000 unarmed people and tool tips come up about how itā€™s better to shoot the big guy first .
Seems to me video games were capturing the national psyche pretty well

Just talked about this with a friend as I tried to play it like 4 times, it came out near the same time as Last Of Us and is the same thing.

In my Biden Juice Haze After watching roughly six hours of Mister How To videos (I do not own a mister) I tried to play a little more Chrono Cross on the rg351v.

I absolutely love using this thing and I absolutely cannot hold focus on it. I went from a save state to the next save point before I quit which was 30 minutes. Maybe I canā€™t handle new (old) things. CC seems great. Been wanting to enjoy it for years. I think @geist linked Scars of Time on insert credit forums in 2003 and that was my first exposure. Must have been a raw low quality mp3 or something from FFShrine.

Seems like a comfy, melancholy game to play for 45 minutes before sleeping. And yetā€¦that escapes me. I also try to play gameboy games on it andā€¦my attention escapes me. Maybe I need to start meditating. I can certainly stare at twitter hoping something good happens for 90 minutes. This is healthier than that.

And with the new remaster out it has never been easier to have understand this game because it starts with 300 tutorial boxes explaining the battle system and it does nothing to help you understand it because you havenā€™t even fought a battle yet.

Thanks internet personality vinesauce!

Reflecting on all of this because I certainly did put 120 hours into Elden Ring. Bad video games arenā€™t great but I donā€™t end my evening mad like if I watched a nearly 3 hour James Bond movie. How could I shove that much Elden Ring into my being but canā€™t focus for 35 minutes on a PS1 RPG in bed? The internet is a poison.

Iā€™m playing the Chrono Cross too, on the Switch. Iā€™d wanted to play it for like 20 years and never really been able to.

Played through Radical Dreamers first. Online I saw that supposedly the time to beat was around 4 hours, it took me maybe 2 so I guess the super slow text speed on the fan translation really makes a difference.

Feels a little strange to then immediately jump into CC and see most of the same plot elements show up, but in very different form. Thereā€™s a lot more Chrono Trigger in here than I thought too. All this time Iā€™d thought that while the two games are loosely related by plot that otherwise they were almost like two unrelated things in aesthetic, gameplay, tone etc.

Weirdly, the battle system reminds me most of Atelier Ryza? Like, both of them involve requiring you to do as many regular attacks as you can to start off so you can build up points that you then use to cast spells and that you have equipped as items.

The ā€˜remasterā€™ is definitely another lazy Squeenix job. It looks fine enough on Classic graphics mode, although the 3D elements are a bit too sharp for the pixelated backgrounds. On New graphics mode, some of the backgrounds look okay but others look like they melted in the sun or something. The framerate in battles is pretty bad either way. It also controls weirdly, Serge always feels like heā€™s moving in a slightly different direction to what Iā€™m telling him and heā€™s always kinda turning to move around objects when I just want him to look at it so I can inspect it.

Iā€™m enjoying it so far though, nice chill lo-poly vibes mixed with some melancholy

i finished the third kingā€™s field game. the one with a 2 in the title. i didnā€™t know that you could enter the first floor of the dungeon from kf1. itā€™s a nice moment.

Got to episode iv in Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga. 9 year old Arus would have considered this the perfect game, but seriously its alright. It starts really badly but I enjoy it as a sort of mario odyssey lite collectathon.
