and jet set radio future could get re-released if the right person at kotaku wrote an article about who owns the rights to the grand royal records back catalog. its a shady entertainment company in culver city california called “Stiletto Entertainment.” all phil spencer has to do is call, and provide cocaine

They already said they’ve got no intentions making any more games BC hence why microsoft gets the coveted Loser Of The Year award.

JSRF is more than a game so they can still do it

Similar to america2004 I played Kameo: Elements of Power which is a Gamecube game that was ported to Xbox and then remade for Xbox360.

Frankly the 2005 copyright surprised me the most.

Also surprising is the game plays pretty well. It is a strange system. Sort of like Orta in that each face button transforms you (so better than Orta in that you are not cycling). They all play different. It is actually astoundingly quick at getting you into the action. Not like something to seek out, but I am going to give it another hour.

Also went back to Tooie and quit at the exact point I quit before I sold al my N64 games (against the balloon dinosaur.) now that game just remains impressive because it hates you.

i’m playing freedom planet on the switch.

the story is surprising in that it resembles a mashup up the star wars prequels and my little pony friendship is magic more than any sonic media.

there’s a panda man with a big round shield named general gong like that’s george lucas brain i’m sorry

i died when my brain completed mapping the playable characters to twilight sparkle, rainbow dash, and fluttershy. posting from hell now

it’s a great game

Started Dishonored DLC: Daud’s Dang Delilah Detour. First mission feels like the earlier missions in Dishonored in that they had more time to build out multiple paths and sidequests. Still playin on easy!

heroes and heralds mode in umvc3 is kinda fun

there’s a mode, right there, it cuts all the story out and just leaves tasty game

context? fuck man, how do you give context to a green cat lady going hand over hand on bars while hoisting a motorcycle with her legs

nah i found it pretty charming even if the voice acting is like negative production value

the level design is fantastic like if every sonic gimmick worked. i was having fun collecting key cards!!

this is now very funny

how do you talk to the 100+ unique animal npcs if you’re just playing the stages tho

i love that a game this good is married to deviantart-style sprite comic writing. it’s very if you can’t handle me at my worst etc.

I remember playing the original Freedom Planet and thinking that it was just alright (if featuring wonderful spritework) but the story was an endless slog that made me regret not picking the mode that skipped it. The fact that they decided to double down on it suggests to me that an element of being a diehard Sonic fan is a degree of mental illness.

since coming back from iowa, I’ve had a hard time getting back to the mental place of perfect killing, where I need to be, so I’m going to play kingdom hearts

I am orphan of Elden Ring!

Now I have started two games: Saga Frontier 2 and Baroque (psx).

Speaking of Baroque, it’s a bit unwelcoming with vitality going down quite quickly. Any general tips for a newcomer?

I gave up on Nu-wolf II, it just wasn’t feeling good to play, and the level design doesn’t feel like it matches the mechanics as much as the first one (granted it’s been a very long time since I played that one). Plus lots of things irk me, the way you put you guns away when you’re too close to a wall is really annoying, peeking around corners feels clunky (the whole physical body thing is clunky really), and you have to press a button to pick up ammo and stuff, just give it to me when i walk over it/rub against it!! i ended up skipping through a longplay, some of the interatice cinematic bits are good. also what a tonally weird game, it goes for super duper silly pulp comic vibes and also “war is hell also racism and genocide is vile” at the same time. i kinda respect it for not backing down on either and just diving in on both

i’m playing saints row 3 remastered now, since i only ever played through 2 and 4. the cars handle better than i remember, the gunplay is just as shallow as i remember though but hopefully mission design and the writing can make up for it

They wrote a whole article about this decision but didn’t go back and write another when they wanted to ramp up to sustained gunfights in the sequel. Absolutely a case of deviating from standard practice for considered reasons but finding it more brittle than expected – that depressing way that mechanics within a genre reinforce themselves and fight deviation.

Oh so it’s not just my imagination, it did feel like they were just throwing more and stronger enemies at me this time. It just didn’t feel satisfying at all. I remember the first game feeling much better. Also felt way harder to stealth it in this one, mainly thanks to the level design giving very difficult paths to commanders without being seen. Eventually I gave up and just blasted my way through every situation, it feels like they put the commanders far away because they want you to fight to them this time around, not sneak to them.

i worked on this very thing in my last game. the thing with actively grabbing ammo vs just picking it up is pretty substantial, as you have an extra little wrinkle to the core game loop and suddenly ammo becomes a thing you have to be actively aware of instead of passively considering. The other thing too is you have to readjust all the weapon’s TTK to compensate for the generally lower amounts of ammo players tend to pick up vs automatically grabbing. I like having to find ammo because I find videogames where you automatically pick it up (uhh Cod) to be much more mindless without it.

I always felt like it’s too spiky, that despite encouraging the blasting the enemy spot → get first connecting shot → group connecting shots was much shorter than it should be. Extremely lethal once they have a bead on the player so death comes very suddenly. I’d prefer a slower time to player death with more time to reorient or re-acquire stealth.
