I did the exact same thing. Reminded me of my brief but torrid affair with vampire survivors a few years ago.

Picross is wonderful and if you have a Switch there’s a bunch of great ones on there as well (and if you are willing to sail the high seas a bunch for the 3DS as well).

They actually just put all the 3DS ones (well, y’know, the regular ones) on Switch, too - a $5 base game and the eight or so other ones as $5 DLC. Not sure if that’s a good deal or not (certainly not better than just downloading them on a hacked 3DS), but I’ve had some fun with it…until I hit puzzle 79 and got horribly stuck :frowning:

my confession to you is that the year that the Nioh 2 beta was available on PSN, it was my most played PS4 game

I’m ready to to dive into the abyss once again

Literally all I’ve played for a month is FF14 and Helldivers 2 (and bg3 with the boys), what the hell is happening to me. I need like a singleplayer game with a story to feel human again

halo infinite is celebrating grunts all month for the YAPPENING and the firefight mode is all grunts and I have been killed by more suicidal little cuties in two hours than I have in the entire time I’ve played halo

I love them. they need to add about three times as many to the mode and it’ll be perfect

One of the toughest enemy grunts is a bastard named bibimbap who has three weapons on his back he never uses as an intimidation tactic and you can steal them with the hookshot, which owns.

I’ve had this sitting on my harddrive for years and finally tried uh Hypnagogia Boundless Dreams. The writing seems good enough and the environments look great. It has too much story and a secret world had a Mario 64 and a Office Space reference and frankly that almost made me quit. Outside of that would be entertained to play more of it with friends watching to take the edge off my own flippant ness.

Internet buddy talked me into starting up Spiritfarer…I like it, it’s good, but it feels like it’s gonna take me an eternity to finish it. Lotta little busywork and resources and crafting and keeping everyone fed and happy. Clocking out of work to do some video game work at home kinda thing.

The animations are so damn good, though. That little cat…

i played through ocarina of time for the first time in years

it’s still pretty great!!

i mean it’s certainly aged badly in some places (especially with camera and controls) but for the most part it’s still a very solid and joyous adventure through time.

the world still felt full of adventure and secrets… i found things i’m pretty sure i never found on other playthroughs. so many little details that i’m amazed are in here. still astonishing they managed to put this thing on the n64, it feels too big for it.

stuff you do as a kid is more interesting than the stuff you do as an adult imo, as that’s more focused on exploration and social quests whereas the adult stuff is all puzzling through dungeons for the most part, but it’s all a good time

yes i know it started the whole hand holding thing and the constant help messages are annoying

i’m doing majora next which i liked more when i was a kid, let’s see if i still feel that way (i think i will)

idk i feel like the turning point is actually this shit in link’s awakening

oot is honestly not too hand-holdy in my opinion. certainly there’s ton of weird stuff (epona comes to mind) that isn’t explained to the player

Oot does have Navi who is disliked for a reason. At least she’s mostly ignorable and brief if you actually LISTEN!!! to her

i really wish you could just like turn off the pieces of power/acorns of defense even if swatting guys across the screen feels awesome (red tunic ftw)

The worst isnt even just the pop up messages it’s the excellent Links Awakening music being replaced with an insipid repetitive power up theme

Also hey did you know the compasses have a NEW FEATURE??

banjo kazooie - i liked this as a kid so it brings me no pleasure to say that playing it now made me feel the way those old renaissance guys felt when they saw an oil painting of a human skull next to an hourglass and a bowl of cherries. it did make me wonder if kazooie was inspired by rod hull’s “emu”

i feel like Navi was really useful to me when i was playing the game in 1998/1999. i’d target new enemies and listen to Navi’s explanation. every enemy has a little blurb! i like that. she does interrupt the flow too much, but at least a lot of her info is useful and esp. at the time having a little explanatory companion was a decent solve for how to integrate tutorialization without breaking kayfabe. you’re not entirely alone. you’ve got a lil insect companion

i don’t care about navi but tatl is good. the missing ingredient was your tutorial fairy being rude to you and everyone else

In my Oot randomizer playthrough i set it so Navi’s attention sound is Ruto giggling and her lock-on sound is her “hello!” clip instead (which ive always thought was cute)

I like if you ask Tatl about an enemy that appeared in Ocarina shes like “what the fuck do you mean youve never seen a dodongo before?? dipshit” and gives 0 helpful advice

i only realized the pun a year or two ago with Tatl and Tael

Thank you. I was trying to show someone the other day the sound I actually hear in my head whenever I say the word “hello” but I couldn’t remember where it was from. I thought it was Kirby
