Games You Played Today The Nonbiri Express '09 (Galaxie ((500×2)−1)) 9小時9人9ゲーム LOOK I MADE IT LONGER: The Power of One

The fact that these are graded based on time of completion, meaning not how quickly you are able to solve it, but how quickly you are able to press all the requisite buttons after you’ve already figured out the solution, feels dumb. Also, these are way less charming without the dumb and absurd themes used in actual game ads. These stick people just aren’t animated interestingly enough.

yeah the “story” versions of these games don’t exist because that would take effort!!

but if you take the math side and make it way harder to the point of almost being impenetrable, you have tactical nexus.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles - in Sonic Origins (PC/Steam)

Man, getting double the dev time (the game was split into 2, which combined together with an extra cart slot on the top of Sonic & Knuckles) rather than the severely cut dev time they had on Sonic 2 might’ve really helped;

at any rate, I had big problems with Sonic 2 but they’ve really turned things around here: Sonic 3 is great! Fun, attractive, purposeful levels, uh well not awful bosses, and cool new gameplay gimmicks popping up constantly!

Through the first four zones, it’s definitely my favorite Sonic game so far! = D

I have learned the unfortunate news that my already bad RE4 2005 skills have gotten even worse over time.

the joke is you can easily overpower bosses in story mode (I’m playing on hard) just by engaging with the metagame, RPG stuff like leveling weapons

which is kind of a shame because bosses are out and out MMO fights and once the game catches up to you in power level, you start seeing stupid things like Furycane doing a donut AOE on the arena while pushing you with wind or Norsenamewolf having a phase where it blasts the arena with cold and you have to hide behind a rock or die. it’s straight up FF14/Dragalia Lost nonsense. and yeah, you can blow through them in story but I’m just thinking of the point where you do a max level quest fight with them you can actually engage, I’m salivating at the idea

also if anyone tries to sell you on the game by comparing it to Monster Hunter, just don’t listen to them, they’re insane. go grab the PSN demo. or steal the PC version in a few days, I’m not your dad.

Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader

A few years ago I found out a games writer I liked started doing Orks and Necron novels for Black Library. Around that time I also learned hours-long 40k lore videos could lull me to sleep while suffering from Covid. After that I read all said writer’s novels and now am, somewhat regrettably, 40k lore-pilled.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Owlcat’s Pathfinder games, I was pretty jazzed when I heard they were doing a turn-based 40k CRPG. I even ended up paying for the Alpha and getting my name in the credits. Over a two week sick-break from work I finally got the heck into this monster game. I was a little worried because the combat system is a gargantuan ground up design. Character progression is also impressive. I was happy to find that they really refined these aspects from the early Alpha I had briefly dipped into. The big fights are really enjoyable. It seems like there are some really broken skill interactions that reward reading through and planning party builds. Re-specs are free once you get your ship which happens early so you don’t need to worry much going through the first act. Sometimes sight lines are hard to predict but the combat overall isn’t that hard as far as I can tell. There is a momentum system that allows the character to perform heroic acts that I am happy to not fully understand. In many of the fights my melee focused PC tears up the battlefield but sometimes other teammates, due to situation or positioning, just start slaying. It’s good.

Seems like the consensus is that this is the most warhammer game that ever warhammered. I haven’t played many but it really does ooze with grim dark and everybody is bad. That being said, there is a lot of story which sometimes goes a bit slow despite the majority of lovingly crafted text. Also, space traversal is not very good (space battles, though, surprisingly good). There is a lot of zoning. I played the game on two different computers, one with a SATA storage SSD and the other with a 4.0 NVMe. The latter was a way better experience. Autosaves could be quite a bit more user friendly and, unlike Baldur’s Gate 3, you cannot save mid-conversation or during cutscenes. There are a lot of both of these.

Do yourself a favor and download the Owlcat ToyBox to hack in navigator points some time during act two. It’s a shitty system IMO.

I am mid chapter three and it’s a bit of a bummer. It does a take all your stuff and rebuild your party. It took me a couple nights to get to the point where they give you back all your gear and when I realized I had to go through all my gear and re-equip everything manually I saved, quit, bought the new Like a Dragon, started downloading, and went to bed. I am comitted to returning to it soon and finishing it eventually, especially considering a gosh darn space marine that will probably join the party has been introduced.

Dominions 6: Rise of the Pantokrator

I started playing this seriesnot long Dominions 5 was released. I’m not gonna make a real attempt to describe the series. Best I can do right now is 4x strategy god-game with granular army set-up, spells, and equipment management.

I have never played multiplayer but did enjoy many single player games of experimentation. The AI was not very good though. They would just ball up huge masses of chaff and force you to widdle down armies over and over to beat them. That seems to be very much improved. I’ve played three smallish single player games so far and CPU players definitely do cooler things. They also wait a certain amount of time you can kind of set before they become aggresiver to other players. There is also a system to set up NAPs with CPU players which I haven’t tried yet but is a very good idea.

UI is cleaner than Dom 5 but is actually a bit more opaque for sacrificing WYSIWYG text buttons on the main map view. There is a multiplayer lobby now so I may actually join a discord and try to get a something happening.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Lovely candy. Only playing a little at a time and am very early still. Just unlocked Hero job last night.

I am procrastinating finishing Renegade because I do not want to replay Generals / CnC 3 / RA3 / CnC 4 nearly as much as I wanted to replay the first two generations.

Also it’s not very good and the maps suck and the missions are really long so it’s just taking a while in general.

That’s what I remember. All the levels are like an hour long. The scale is cool.

i just spent like 6 hours getting a helmet in halo infinite… i now have a lot of empathy for people who regularly play fortnite and do this torturous garbage on a regular basis. and no it’s not even that good of a helmet.

the pvp is so fucking bad I don’t even know where to start but uh I guess the firefight mode they added is completely fine. They seemingly got rid of aim assist on controller or it’s so weak that it doesn’t help so I have to play it on mouse and keyboard and I more or less wish I was fucking dead the entire time. I love Call of Duty!!

actually the worst thing I forgot to mention is that they brought back reticle bloom from reach because I guess they figured people were clamoring for fights to be decided by who’s better at rhythm games than by who can actually aim. The pistol is so fucking shit compared to the halo 5 one
