Hooked up my Saturn again.
I’ve been playing Asuka 120% BURNING Fest Limited and Steep Slope Sliders lately.
I’ve been playing Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart, specifically the unofficial English translation.
I’m about an hour in and so far it’s dreadful. I can’t catch monsters, the towns are actually menus, and the food mechanic is really nasty this early in the game. And most of the quests so far have consisted of “pick an option in town menu, talk to someone, leave, pick another option, talk to someone, leave, go back to first option” etc.
Anyway I’m going to stick it out some more because I really love the DQM series but I don’t think this is going to get much better. It seems…poorly designed.
Super Magentic Neo is the perfect game if you want to give yourself a panic attack! I don’t get panic attack but I’m going to go lay down because I think this game gave me one.
I said I would shut up about Sunless Sea but I lied, I’m sorry. I’m completing mid-to-high level quests now and I finally have a military class ship (with a tail gun! I can shoot shit behind me now yayyy) I’m actually fairly decked out and preparing to go on one big fuckoff trot around the whole game map in order to maximize my returns in a single trip. Fuel consumption isn’t too much worse in my new boat but having twice as many crew makes supplies go at a fairly appalling rate. I guess on the plus side I’m deadly enough to kill stuff more or less at will and can count on at least partial resupply out at sea.
Really enjoying 140 on Steam. Indie is great and Steam is where I would live if 1) I owned a real computer/not laptop, and 2) I didn’t crave that SNES lineage so (3DS)
BTW this is special blend but all my social accounts have mdgn in them so I adjusted my shit
banned for not naming yourself secret blend
So good
synergy, boo. synergy.
Crypt of the Necrodancer set to Death Grips and you can too
Never beating the story
It is now 2:32am EST where I live. That means it was 2.5 hrs ago I told myself I would “try out” Bangai-O Missle Fury for a few minutes before I went to sleep…
It is another masterpiece from Treasure as far as I’m concerned. It’s a shame quality stuff like this is buried in XBLA instead of getting collector’s editions with metal cases, soundtracks and art books. A Treasure art book would be pretty alright with me.
Update: Holy shit this game is tough. Bangai O spirits was difficult but Missle Fury isn’t nearly as well balanced. Mastering EX attacks is pretty much the ONLY was to beat a mission, whereas in Bangai O Spirits you had secondary weapons that could at least give you a fighting chance if you misused your specials.
does anyone even know if Treasure is still alive
They made two kids-anime 3DS games for Capcom that both sold really bad. I’m sure everyone involved was sad about that.
Well I’ll say my super cheap Dreamcast purchases were mostly a bust. With hindsight A lot of Dreamcast games combine the polygon fidelity of the PS1 with the vaseline effect of N64. It’s not a real good look! PS1 (which I did not have growing up) won the aesthetic war there.
The Cardcaptor Sakura game I’m trying to offload and figured no one had any interest in is like Pokemon Snap but very short (3 “stages”, 20 minutes) and it doesn’t matter if you win or not. I guess if I did win they would let me play a 4th stage. The “game” is moving a camera around to the right position. And look at some moderately nice animes in 3D. Oh and have some nostalgia part of my brain be tickled by nice Dreamcast menus. I also unlocked a very boring puzzle game.
Shutoko Battle (Tokyo Xtreme Racer) boy I wish I ever enjoyed you. I buy one of you like every 3 years and then go “wait I don’t actually like playing this!” Combine with how simple the graphics look 17 years later and it did not hold my interest.
Frame Gride (Dreamcast) it is Armored Core but simplier but now a fighter. It was pretty dang boring. You can see the starters of a lot of good ideas though. VOOT does everything about it better. Glad I still have my copy.
Godzilla Generations is as bad as everyone said it was. Slowly destroy a city (but stop to do any attacks) from horrible pre-set camera angles. It’s as sleep inducing as any other Godzilla game!
VICTORY! I returned my father’s bones to London. My successor is going for the most likely much more grindy “write a masterpiece” victory condition but I’m not touching this game again until the submarine DLC comes out. My new captain does have awesome starting stats, however, so I’m hoping that’ll do a lot to speed things up since I’ll be able to progress more quickly and play less conservatively.
aww i keep wanting to play frame gride but it’s always seemed like a purely inferior armored core
how do they handle the controls with only the two shoulder buttons on DC? i know From loves to use all four dating back to their earliest PSX games for camera control and strafing
i gave up and restarted Pillars of Eternity on easy and i’m having a much better time.
the shame of it
Playing Devil Daggers in little bursts, usually till I get a new high score. Back up to second in my friends list, but secret character is a class above at the moment. I’m kinda at a wall where I can’t kill the spider guy and survive at the same time.
Started Bunny Must Die!, and am enjoying it. Haven’t done much after the first boss. Tried World of Diving, but it crashed when loading the first level : (
devil survivor overclocked was on sale for $10 in the eshop so i picked it up. i’m about 10 hours in and i’m enjoying it. it’s definitely difficult and you gotta stay current on yr demon fusing to stand a chance. pretty interesting plot where a bunch of people get trapped inside a government barricade in tokyo when demons start appearing and it starts getting all conspiracy-theory-ish and stuff. and then there’s all the typical smt apocalyptic stuff too. the voice acting is grating and i turned it off am enjoying it much better now.
i poked around the internet to see if devil survivor 3 had ever been announced and found this wild post:

Reminds me of the Game 3 Curse. I don’t remember which series, maybe Last Bible? had a 3, and it failed, and Atlus supposedly decided never to make a game 3, as it was bad luck. So you got if… instead of SMT3, and two Persona 2s, etc. Then when Nocturne ended this, the third game was always totally different from the first two and shares essentially nothing with their continuity: Nocturne, Persona 3, Raidou VS Soulless Army…
I don’t know if the game 3 thing is true, but if it is perhaps DS3 will be a total revamp.[/quote]
This reads like an old BBS post. How did it find its way into the future? Bless its heart.
