Recore has a 30 minute demo now if you have Win10 or an Xbox. It’s a neat mix of Jak 2 and Metroid Prime. A very pretty PS2 game.
Ok but now play Pirates because it is awesome.
You definitely choose the wrong one of those two games to play
i’ve been playing the new iOS lumines game nonstop. i got a really great score today while listening to kool keith. i might delete “threes” and “steve reich’s clapping music” off my phone. all i need is lumines baby
i know tetsuya mizuguchi probably doesn’t want me to listen to other music while playing his game. i don’t know what to say to him. i’m sorry.
If you have the ability, check this game out, it seems neat and it sounds like they patched the game to address complaints from release
Let me tell you about the dashing and how you can chain dashes by jumping like some stupid Mega Man shit
I gave this ten minutes and I kind of can’t get over how obviously focus-tested it is – like, they obviously workshopped the main character and the plot down to nothing. I shouldn’t be surprised because everything microsoft puts their name on is like this, but it’s just way too obviously trying to be Good Videogame
I reviewed it recently and didn’t score it well. The opening hours are fantastic, but it nose dives after the first couple main dungeons.
So yeah, check out the demo.
I was planning on spending my free Bing farmin’ m-dollars on it down the line. Oh well.
It sounds like they took a pretty good five hour game and turned it into a mediocre twenty hour game.
This is exactly it. It’s not that it becomes a bad game as such, just a really boring one.
What, are you bored of fighting Kongous and Gboro-Gboros over and over again?
I’ll hit you up tonight to play some but worst case we can always jump ship to GE2!
I was under the impression that Spec Ops was somewhat of an SB game? I mean at face value it’s a serviceable cover shooter, but the narrative stuff it does is kinda neat.
and man you weren’t kidding about Pirates, I’m a motherfucking swashbuckler now
I’m fine with Spec Op: The Line. Sure it’s overblown and contrived but it’s a good ride to do as a one-shot.
The situation you’re placed in to commit war crimes is fine; it plays off fog of war and builds empathy (for war criminal soldiers!) through roleplaying just as Papers, Please does. When the rest spins off of guilt from that act, it hinges on whether you accept the inciting incident as the game ‘playing fair’.
Because everything’s turned up and the walls are melting I can accept it as a maximal expression. I put it in my mindspace next to Kane & Lynch 2; also best played in one-shot over a hot muggy night, timed to end just as the streetlights burn out. It’s not as clean as Dog Days but it’s close and has some good moments, and it’s real pretty in its own ways.
I’m mostly bummed that it hews so closely to Apocalypse Now. That movie’s 40 years old and we can find more contemporary aesthetic influences when we’re talking about the Iraq war. (Hinge the structure on it, no problem – fever dreams are a good structure for a war story)
Spec Ops: The Line is contrived didactic trash how dare you mention it in the same breath as Dog Days!
One day I will maybe play SpecOps but until then lord does everything I know about it irritate me.
Maybe part of that is it was the same time as Dog Days and I find that game so so strong.
Dog Days is great because it just puts you in the shoes of someone for whom the actions of a shooter are natural sans comment.
Spec Ops is like LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID AAAAAAAA FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF JEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS WAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I didn’t sleep very well last night
Thats actually a great point about dog days and I had obviously had it in my mind but that brought it to conciousness.
Spec Ops is Fight Club.
Durden of Arabia
As for Pirates, I think it should be more firmly in sb sacred cows status, because fuck it is just the best. An expression of PC simulationism in a wrapper fun and punchy enough to satisfy console folks.
