I remember playing through it with this:

Which was, …eh, better than dpad or stylus or anything else on a touchscreen but not good enough for a game to sell you the potential of 3D. I don’t think anything past the launch pretended this was viable and anyone foolish enough to ship full 3D movement on the 3DS just went back to OG PSX style or used stylus as a cursor.

I want to try it with the 3ds analog stick

Titanfall 2 has several weird changes that lower survivability. If you’re on foot, you have a glowing IFF outline around your model which makes it easy to pick players off from a distance when wallrunning or grappling. When in a Titan there are now no shields and no counters to rodeo attacks (where in the previous game you had an AoE damage over time smoke). High TTK was one of the main reasons I liked it more than the “future” Calls of Duty. :frowning:

Still in it for the campaign.

Just finished playing a little Steam game called Spirits of Xanadu. It’s kind of like a brief, stylized System Shock, except there’s a lot more direct physical interaction with the derelict ship’s systems that you are trying to get online. If that description right there didn’t instantly make you want to play it then I don’t want to know you.

It’s good! I figured out how to get all 3 endings my first time through, but you can’t get all 3 at once, so I just did one and then watched the other 2 on youtube. It was the way to go. I wouldn’t say it’s hugely replayable, once you get it you get it, but you only fully get it if you obsessively check every corner like I do in these exploration/adventure games. It’s gratifying that the game rewards that behavior, and also that it limits it (the ship is not that big).

Well that’s odd that it’s published by Night Dive, whose business has been acquiring lost IP and putting it up and sale, and just recently are doing System Shock remake and System Shock 3. And yet these guys don’t appear to be involved in that? I guess Stephen just really, really likes System Shock.

You actually get electric smoke baseline, but it has some weird mechanic where it needs to charge or something. I know I’ve smoked pilots off my titan before

I mostly don’t dig the change to the titan meter meaning there aren’t a lot of titans stomping around unless you’re in bounty hunt and turning it into a score streak instead of a thing everyone can get and can use to turn the tide.

that’s how I was playing it – it just emulates the dpad and feels way too inaccurate for precision stuff. maybe my brain’s expectations were too high because it felt me using an analog stick of sorts, but yeah it never felt good

like I’d be shimmying and end up falling off the ledge, or I’d try to do a quick turn backflip and just end up going in a wide turning circle and fall off the platform. stuff like that

Maybe smoke is just on Ion? I’ve been using Scorch, who shoots flammable gas tanks.

I’ve gotten it with Scorch (who is cool, he throws farts and lights them up by smashing the ground that hard)(come to think of it, I haven’t so much as touched Ion), so I really honestly don’t know

You can’t play Nu-Doom offline…

is it at least better than using the D-Pad or thumbstrap? because both of those methods were insufferable.

I’d put it a little below just using the dpad tbh :frowning2:

Nuclear Throne has a great feel

put a couple of hours into mankind divided
seems like the level design has moved on from vents that take you directly to your objective and it definitely has some of those graphics but i’m just not finding it very compelling so far

Proof that I figured out the Good End by myself:

I didn’t know that comptroller was still a title people had.

yeah, that’s the impression I’m getting. the last one was kind of forgettable but was also surprisingly competent at the same time and I expected not to read the exact same things about this one
