Yes I was pretty excited by these puzzles being right at the start of the game but aside from the forest shadow puzzles, I feel like the game didnt present me anything that felt so lateral-thinking in style again
FEAR is still shockingly good, especially considering how simplistic it is and how i’ve only been running around sewers and water treatment shit so far.
accidentally jumpscared myself coming up a ladder by pinning a guy like this with the stake gun
Is Soul Hackers 2 any good? I just started playing and it’s like… Fine. But idk
the “i hung my bathrobe on the door to dry” of jumpscares
Best SMT game of the past 15 years (it’s ok)
Nah it’s very mediocre. It peaks once you get to explore a bit of the city after the first dungeon. And even then the bar where the team hangs out blows
most folks here were not big fans of it, and i am currently in the process of finishing it after taking like 5-6 months off to play other things. it feels kind of like an experiment? like “can we make something passable in Unity?” or “can we put out an SMT game cheaply, again?”
i find it sort of mundane, but it’s a pleasant and smooth mundane that doesn’t bore me. it just never wows me like other titles in the series at large.
The voice delivery in Viewfinder is like too much. Why do these perspective-y puzzle games feel they have to have people speak. The game has like the squee-est delivery without giving enough context to anything. No reason to care about the characters and they don’t shut up.
The one part of the Wholesome Games Initiative that I am fully against is how nice all the characters are written to be. I’d be playing more Inertial Drift if the racers were all assholes like their Initial D inspirations, but instead they’re all nice, to everyone, about everything. They’re like chatGPT customer service reps.
yeah, i feel like every game like this is trying to emulate the worst things about The Witness. i played the demo of this game and it’s not bad, but story/voice acting was really painful to the point it almost seemed like parody
gamecube animal crossing writing would be too edgy for those dweebs lol
oh i have 100% seen people talk about animal crossing villagers like they’re being traumatized. it’s too much
Why even make a competitive game or something with fail states if the characters don’t talk shit!! Is someone’s gonna get bent out of shape over an anime saying “eat my dust” they’re also probably not emotionally equipped to lose at anything ever. I hate this shit so much!!
What the hell why even MAKE video games anymore FUCK
I want my neighbors to be GROUCHY and maybe having SECRET SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROBLEMS that is why Animal Crossing used to be good
gonna try “it’s unwholesome” next time i dont have budget to implement a table stakes feature like collision in a racing game lmao
I can see the argument for no collision (time attack, ghosts, makes sense from a certain perspective) but PLEASE make the racers smack talk!!! I wanna hear an anime boy call me a sucker and a dweeb before i make him look like a chump!!!
i really liked writing npc dialog where the npcs told you to fuck off because they didnt feel like talking
actually yeah writing snappy dialog is probably my favorite thing. i need to make that a core pillar of whatever i do next
most of the game modes in that game are racing against the AI. if your doing a time trial its not like other people are on the track to begin with!!! its just lazy as fuck…reminds me of shit like forza 7 being like um ghosts that show you anything but the last lap you did is stupid
there being no collision in actual races means you cant block anyone from passing you which is, ya know, a key strategic part of racing
car positioning and getting around opponents is like a core thing in any driving game, otherwise its just a time trial.
there is already a game where all the racers are ghosts it’s called trackmania and they’ve already perfected it so no need making knockoffs.
