Conservation is good! The arrangement would worry me but that probably mostly has to do with paranoia about my own clumsy ability to maintain bathroom cleanliness urk–and not having had to be neater before; the contradiction of a germophobic slob.
I just remember the first meetup had a toilet like this. Straddling the toilet to wash your hands feels so awkward
I think the big drum on the left contains space TP
yeah but they don’t have adequate soap or towels by that little sink half the time so you feel like you’re half assing it until you go to the real sink
That would be good maybe. I thought it was the laser scorcher battery. ^ _^
so many countless accidental deaths because SHODAN ‘miscalibrated’ the anal cleaning lasers
Bitsy Mystery Dungeon (2018)
I stumbled on this in my quest to find all the world’s mystery dungeons. It’s got nothing to do with Shiren, though; the name is just a coincidence. BMD is a top-down collection of cute little rooms, each made by a different person. It’s part of that classic game genre, “museum of moving dioramas”. I recommend playing this.
I think Soul Hackers 2 is the worst SMT game I’ve played out of many. It has both a very budget feel (Please savor the docks at the beginning because it’s Sewers and Tron only from then on) but also no original ideas, so it’s a wonder how it came to exist. Is it just the perceived strength of the Shin Megami Tensei : Devil Summoner 2: Soul Hackers IP?
Final fantasy 4 (solo + half xp/gold challenge)
I finished this. Cecil’s healing and speed are awful, his equipment options and atk/defense are so huge though. What a guy. You can definitely have him go to the « back row » in a middle or a battle to gobble 10 weak potions before coming back into the fray. Hardest part of the challenge was the four Elemental Italians battle which I cheesed by stacking Protect and Shell 1000x while fighting the weak first Italian, equipping a blood sword for HP draining, berserking Cecil with a Bacchus Cider then leaving for 10 minutes
The game embodies one recurrent Nes / Snes RPG plot issue in that the player characters in this game are losers, they fail at everything ! The plot needs the antagonist to find the 8 chaos emeralds to become final boss, so we’re going to watch the team fail at grabbing each of the chaos emeralds for increasingly ludicrous reasons
It’s the first time I noticed that the architecture in this game is heavily inspired by the middle east
Hmm. Most of the player character names are either Jewish(-ish) or British, while the enemies are all Italian. Was FF4 secretly about WW2 all along?
I found out this week that my great grandparents and my grandmother naturalized the same year as Einstein and I think that’s neat
also I think the original localization tried to minimize the Italianness of the enemy names but now that you mention it…
a good old fashioned speedrunner’s commode
SF6 is great now that Im in a better mood. Played around 80 matches with my brother today, and the rematch option is so fast and so snappy. World Tour is the pits, tho.
yeah I don’t think I care enough about Diablo but it’s been a nice breath of fresh air that Zelda, Street Fighter, and System Shock are all excellent
I seem to recall the opposite happening with last Spring’s big releases where like Elden Ring was great and everything else sucked
I love the slow-speed glove
Tokyo Pinball (2023)
A beginner-friendly pixel art pinball game that was released today. I don’t know much about pinball, but I love that you can hit the ball inside the building and go to smaller boards depicting rooms indoors!
I’ve been curious about the Xenoblade games for years (I’ve never played an Takahashi joint) and finally took the plunge on the 3DS port of the original. It’s…pretty cool, seven hours in. The fidelity of the platform makes it feel like a lost PSX/PS2 game and the score rocks. The battle system has been interesting to wrap my head around—I got stuck on a boss last night and had to research buffs—but I think I dig how much attention you have to pay to it.
Outriders (PS5) - i still have no idea what to think about this game
it’s like a thirps cover-looter-shooter? i guess it has co-op and stuff, but i’m still in the prologue and it’s rather narrative-heavy so far
plot is somewhat intriguing but the vibe is a bit too hoo-rah at this point, lol
Lost Sphear (PS4) - if the term jrpg is offensive i have, uh, no idea what to call this. it is a game which hews closely to the conventions of, uh… role-playing games… that were developed in japan… which themselves followed in the footsteps of dragon quest and final fantasy… uhhh
idk, apologies to yoshi-p

(^shopped)
Pinball FX (PS4)
Best I can come up with on Hurricane is:
-
left lane (Ferris wheels), left bank (ducks–light Lock), middle lane (Comet), middle target (dunking–bonus multiplier) aren’t really worth shooting for directly
-
On left flipper: shoot mid-left lane (Juggler) if lit (Lock, Mystery Bonus, Jackpot), otherwise shoot right ramp and/or right bank buttons (cats–light Mystery Bonus)
-
On right flipper: catch and pass to left flipper; if can’t catch, shoot Juggler (mid-left) if lit, otherwise left lane (Ferris wheels)
If you know how (I don’t really), you can nudge the ball either off or around the return ramp to make the Ferris wheels return kinda safe.
A fiendish/ingenious table, how it sucks you in with those easy middle and right ramp shots, and really gets you thinking once you realize yeah you can hit those all day and they sound cool but it isn’t where the points are, how do you get the points? So then you start exploring and then you realize you’ve been playing for four hours straight. ; D
Skill shot worth a ton. Slingshot to outlane is really killer here! So is the music–like, the worst carnival music ever, which is something.
~
If you hit the X button too rapidly to restart a table, it soft-locks; I’m impatient so I’m doing this constantly. : P Today’s new 1.06 update didn’t fix it. The UI is so poorly put together, oh well.
Other quirks include a grinding noise when holding the plunger out at a new ball, and a bonus light almost constantly flickering as a light-extra-ball-at-this-multiplier indicator, but I was playing Pro Mode, which doesn’t award extra balls.
Decided to give Ace Combat 7 a try, died repeatedly on the second mission, went to look up some tips and saw that this is still considered to be a tutorial mission and that seemingly stages 5 and 6 are notorious “wall” stages. Also I don’t know if I’m an idiot but there was so much talking and cutscenes and I legit think all the made up country names sound the same (Osea, Erusea, Usea, I legit think every location is -sea) that I literally could not follow who I was with and who I was fighting against. Anyways I decided discretion tops valor and gave up, sorry people here who like the game.
Funnily enough I played my first Ace Combat game last year (AC2) and found that easy to get into an immediately entertaining, not sure what was so different there as I could parse what was going on there so much easier while I could not even follow what was going on in a tutorial stage here.
war…never changes
Continuing through Boltgun, I’m on Venerable Bastion. I’m really starting to love this game, it does a great job of keeping the momentum up and not leaving you wandering around too much.
I love the feel of the weapons, particularly the chaingun. Very satisfying.
