Games You Played Today Part 007 Goldeneye

my favorite videogame pinball thing is flipnic/devils crush/pinball quest shit thats physically impossible with real tables.
bummer about it being so laggy though :frowning:

i watched video of someone playing it on a real jaguar and it looks like it worked much better there, so i dunno, it might be the emulator? i watched a few atari 50 videos and everyone struggles with actually hitting the ball, no one actually mentions it though which is weird, the delay is REALLY obvious

also after thinking about it some more i have decided rayman is not okay and actually kinda sucks

damn, that description of ruiner pinball almost had me rushing to figure out jaguar emulation

I don’t recall having any issues with Ruiner Pinball via Atari 50 but I think I was kinda in shock from encountering the Jaguar back catalogue for the first time.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires (PS4) - extremely good musou. runs better than Warriors All-Stars on PS4 (DW8E holds 60 except during certain musou attacks and during object destruction; WAS dips constantly, everywhere. no option to cap to 30, either). this is the first time i’ve played one of the empires games; the sub-series swaps out vaguely following various arcs from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel for a generous layering of Koei historical strategy on top of the relatively straightforward action gameplay.

the strategy layer is surprisingly robust, i got married to the son (Gongson Yue) of my ex-ruler and made him leave his dad’s kingdom and join the one i’m a prefect in. hoping to pop out some babbies, eventually revolt and backstab my leader, and of course guide China into a new age of prosperity. i recruited Sima Yi and he gets mad bonuses to negotiation, his odds of success were straight 100% on some of his petitions lmao

Sima Yi for life

Oh, I was under the impression that Jag Rayman was considered the best one. I heard that on a podcast, looked it up on YouTube and the vids seemed to bear it out

and @meauxdal backed it up too

This also has been my impression.

the PS1 version is generally considered the other contender for OG Rayman, but the mechanics are slightly different and slightly worse, you skid in the ice levels (boo), the music is not as good, some of the sound effects are pitched up in a weird way, the aforementioned loading times are obnoxious

Saturn version is basically like the PS1 version but without the fog effect and sound effects running at the incorrect sample rate (more noticeable than the mistakes in the PS1 audio)

PS1 does have a fog effect, technically higher color depth(?) and some of the levels are slightly re-designed, but i honestly think the Jag version just looks better to me

Oh so I’m not crazy after all, I was just getting my public opinions mixed up since as mentioned I definitely enjoyed the Jag version more than the other versions I played (mainly thanks to the ice physics even on levels with NO ICE). Still don’t like it, though.

the worst thing to happen on Citadel Station was the installation of these nightmare toilets

i finished the battle pass in fortnite, and in that match I got 2nd place and was talking through it on the discord to the annoyance of everyone (sorry yall). When I redeemed my rewards I felt incredibly empty. Is it enough to just have something to chase? The fact that a battle pass ā€œcostsā€ less than a skin and you get several in one feels like a good ā€œvalueā€ proposition. but I cant say that I actually use the cosmetics I earn on a regular basis. Maybe if I played more? I found the leveling near the end to be kind of thrilling but a lot of the quests, even the more ā€œelaborateā€ ones, to be pointless.

It is incredibly thrilling combat though. it feels really good to come across 2 people having a firefight and waste both of them. I have gotten better at doing random headshots with the sniper rifle. The endgame is still incredibly tense. I should probably play something of substance at some point though.

They truly emphasize the cyberpunk horror of trioptimum. Do you think the toilet seats are angled such that it is physically painful to sit on them for more than 5 minutes?

incredible. do they flush in the game though?? I am imagining the sound they would make while flushing and i’m scaring myself

Is that a combination sink on top of the toilet? What could go wrong?

And there’s no toilet paper but maybe you just…sear your buns clean?

The sink on top of the toilet is extremely common in Asian countries and works great. The water flows after you flush and fills up the toilet lowering water usage.

Diablo is good. Street Fighter is very good.

i just found out the DKC2 defaults to monaural sound in the NTSC-U and PAL versions (the NTSC-J version, released a few weeks prior in Nov. '95, defaults to Stereo)

i’ve never noticed this, i always just bop into a new game or load my save, don’t recall ever switching the default over

…so every time i’ve ever played the game i’ve only heard it in Mono!!! wtf

i guess when i’ve listened to the soundtrack on youtube it may have been in stereo…

I had Rayman on PS1 and that damn slippery music level made me quit forever.
