Games You Played Today Oratorio Tangram

Strange Journey Redux is wild for a very mundane reason: the entire app cost system is gone and you can equip every app at once. This is such a generous QoL improvement and I can’t see the regular DS version as anything but obsolete

In Bootes, during the hidden sidequest where the team gets ambushed and have to find an exit, the quicksave stopped functioning because of « data corruption » Cool and appropriate, the DEMONICA is hacked or something, etc.
Then after the fight with David I went back to the ship and couldn’t do a regular save either. Huh. Then the new 3DS screen went black and it hasn’t worked since. It’s been 5 days and the joke is getting old now, Atlus, thank you

yeah, isn’t the beginning the most awesome thing? where you kill that flying thing and how you interact with that knight NPC, it’s so dope. better than anything I’ve ever seen in an RPG to date. I still never played much beyond that because I lose focus fast but man, I really appreciate that game and want to go back to it all the time. some day I will!

I finished up Virtue’s Last Reward.

It never got as funny as 999 (what game really has though) but I think I have a soft spot for this trashy kind of “let’s take several random scientific theories we don’t quite understand and try to connect them all together” mashups they seem to produce. It reminds me how committed Kojima was to the whole genetic deal in MGS1 despite understanding almost nothing about it.

are you trying to tell me the dominant genes aren’t the good ones???

I love that this game does not fuck around with its medieval setting.

An early sidequest that I’m not going to spoiler because it’s early there’s this dwarf whose smithy was burned down and he asks you to find the arsonist. You do and he’s like “I’ll pay you not to turn me in” and I was like sorry, buddy, I believe in truth justice and the American way. So I take him to the dwarf and the dwarf goes “Thanks! Hey guards! This is the arsonist.” And they come over and say “we’ll summarily hang this guy, thanks for finding him” and the dwarf is like “good riddance” and I was like wooooooaaah hold on there but of course, what did I expect?

Yeah that was literally the first quest I completed, definitely set the tone

It’s just not fair, you don’t get the most consistent tone and the most writing by volume. It’s one or the other, play fair

I somewhat enjoyed the witness at the time, but the futher I get away from it, the less it seems to matter at all.

At least it didn’t end up being full of audio logs about Jon Blow’s fear of losing his hair.
