the FIFA 19 story mode is the first one of these I’ve played since fight night champion and it’s not quite as good as that but I still think these are relatively underappreciated
I went to @isfet’s house to check out his new TV and played the new Forza (for the first time!) in HDR. I had a blast doing donuts in fields and busting through fences until I powerslid into a creek, fell through the map, and crashed the game.
I dug up this El Shaddai promo disc I found when Jake moved to Japan that I think migrated from Shane Bettenhausen when he was working at Ignition
I’ll dump it from work. I think it has some promo videos, art, and unrelated music (mood music?)
this looks like a witch house ep
uh-oh, may have spoken too soon as it’s not reading in this drive
I’ll try it on my old laptop at home, but we may be better off imagining the cool numerological mysteries it may have held
A liftable aesthetic, indeed
Crackdown is the best 3d platformer ever made
I’ve been gone for a few days and had 200+ posts to read through in this thread. Now I’ve done that and find out that 0 of those were Anthem posts lol good job sb, I’m proud of you
So I played Anthem for 3 hours because I’ve got a free 10 hour trial on EA’s Origin service
I actually found it enjoyable so far. Now I understand that it gets worse after where I’m at but so far it’s been like 80% enjoyable. They should have just cut out the hub and all the characters you can talk to but okay. Also, in the second mission you have to collect glowies and bring them to a rock-like structure and that sucked but other than that I liked the missions. They are looter shooter missions, so, appropriate. I mean whaddya expect
It sucks that you have no clue how much dps a weapon does and there is not a single stat sheet for your character in the entire game, so you don’t know what gear does what and so it feels like this whole looter shooter thing was poorly thought out, almost as if the developer is not well versed in the genre hmmmm! (but they have done stats sheets before lol)
The much talked about loading screens are happening too often but they aren’t taking long for me… Maybe because I’m playing on medium detail and the patch they dropped actually did what it was supposed to do? Idk, every reviewer says the loading screens didn’t improve much. I don’t have an SSD btw
I wish the game looked like the trailers. Especially the explosions. They looked really, really good. In-game they are just okay (and that’s not because I’m playing on medium settings, I’ve seen videos okay)
The shooting I actually like! It feels right to me. Most people say it’s no good/no Destiny but Idk, seems fine to me. @BustedAstromech also said it’s… What was it, ropey? Loose? I forgot
I think I’ll play 5 hours all in all and then come back 3-6 months from now and play the remaining 5 hours of my trial time. Who knows, maybe it’s the next Warframe by then (yeah right)
I think @rye and I had the most to discuss about that but we all got it out over voice chat while playing Destiny for the past few weeks instead of posting it here
anthem is a mess unlike any other in terms of ux and design and so many other baffling decisions it makes, like they had several textbook cases of what not to do to follow and somehow they managed to make all those mistakes AND NEW ONES
the javelins look and move cool and that’s about it, it’s fun to mess around with
my conclusion is that this thing had to come together hot. like reentering earth’s atmosphere hot
For the first time in ages I played a Smash Brothers, 6 player local no less, bless the Switch for being able to accommodate that.
That shit is impossible to parse for me but I feel like I acquitted myself well against scrubby competition. Apparently I main Mewtwo now don’t @ me.
Mewtwo is one of the most respectable characters.
I bought the Castlevania Requiem collection for PS4. I’ve never played Rondo of Blood, and this seems like a pretty decent port. Shame about how bad the PS4 controller d-pad is. Any recommendations for a better experience? I’m thinking about one of those Hori mini pads.
I’ve got a Fighting Commander Pro it is good, too. Might be overkill.
there are many good resources on youtube that can help get you up to speed with basics of high-level play
Yeah it’s just so unfinished.
“Strange inconveniences” describes my experience with it pretty well. It’s designed incompetently.
I’ve been trying for hours now to download the 3 gig patch that fixes basically nothing and it’s just been bizarre. It reserves almost 50 gigs of disk space and when it’s done downloading it just gets stuck on" finalizing". (that’s an old Origin error) There’s a reddit thread about it, it’s not just me. For some people it’s downloading the whole game again. It’s fucked. And that’s just such a basic thing. An update with 3 small fixes and it’s this troublesome.
Okay, now it’s re-downloading the whole game for me too… Great. Time to play something else
ME3 multiplayer was great but the game was miserable, like 90s fighting game miserable, at ever telling the player how anything worked or what anything did. You had to find out everything by empirical experimentation, and watching youtubes and stuff
I only played that beta demo weekend thing and I figured out everything I needed:
- Pick colossus
- Flamethrower
- Smash ground
- COMBO
shooting was just a thing done when flamethrower was not an option
got doom (2016) for £5
it’s essentially all the bad things about 2010s action games put together in one generic package
give it a couple levels and play with mouse and keyboard if possible
the console demo didn’t do much for me but I wound up hugely enjoying it once I started playing for real
