Games You Played Today: Actress Again: Current Code (Part 1)

alright you were right. i scoured the galaxy looking for anything armor-piercing with my blacklisted character (Lady La’Dontae, what a rad name) and didn’t find aaaaanything. But I did find a self charging glitch trap AND discovered that turrets are armor-piercing, so I used a combination of that trap and a subverter (and the fact that the alarms in my personal mission didn’t do anything) to murder a bunch of them and steal the shit I needed.

The best part was at the very end when I grabbed the needed treasure, but two guards took an unexpected (by me) route and cornered me. I was basically out of decent options, but it just so happened that the object of my personal mission was an armor piercing shotgun, so I was able to knock them out. What a perfect little story.

Anyway Lady La’Dontae is now retired, and hopefully someone else will get the super rad baseball bat she had that had literally no cooldown time. That was extremely funny.

side note: it turns out that jammers will jam a turret if you subvert it, but it has just enough time to get off one shot. so really i just alerted a bunch of guards to a body lol

i put smackdown 2 on my vita, and i’ve been playing season mode as essa rios.

the way you unlock extra parts for create a wrestler mode is amazing. there are 26 UNKNOWN wrestlers made up of the parts they unlock, and they’ll randomly appear on weekly shows while you play season mode.

this is how this just happened for the first time during this playthrough:

the show starts with steve austin being attacked by a mystery assailant backstage. he’s too injured to compete in the main event aginst the rock. vince mcmahon comes out and books a new match: essa rios vs UNKNOWN P in a ladder match for no title.

imagine being one of the people who paid to see rock vs austin that week!

Criminally, YouTube does not have the intrigue/mystery music featured in the game. The season mode gets awesome after a few years when the matchmaking no longer correlates with the angles and the whole thing just kind of breaks down, predicting actual WWE booking 20 years before its time

Beat the second campaign of Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders. The writing took a complete nosedive as each major character spends every conversation insulting either another character or another fantasy race. The second faction is very squishy but fast so most maps were solved by baiting single troops into forests over and over and only moving ahead when it was 100% safe.

I unlocked two hard difficulty campaigns but I’m pretty sure I will not be touching either. The mechanics are alright but they do not gel together in a way that makes me want to execute on them in a high-difficulty capacity.

I am in crisis!
I have started playing Paradise Killer (10+ hours in) and I find it very boring.
I like the music (although it’s too random), I like certain interactions with characters… and I love Silver Case and sequel…

But still… I find traversing the island terribly boring. Collecting things is equally boring. There are too many useless collectibles. I hate to need the blood currency. I hate to have to search around in this open island, for the other characters.

Do I have problems? I need your support!
Should I endure playing or stop? I don’t want to miss out the heir of Suda’s novels

I finished it at around 9 hours, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it if it had gone on much longer than that

Just call it. Everyone says the ending is slightly disappointing anyway (I thought it was fine, but I had duly adjusted my expectations beforehand)

Oh, and there is another problem. I might have accidentally spoiled who is culprit. So my motivation has been killed because of this suspect.

Wow, so Dragon’s Dogma locks you out of your file after you finish it, unless you want to restart using clear data. And I had been waiting to play the DLC (I dabbled in it) until after I had finished the game, on the advice of reddit or gamefaqs or whatever was coming up whenever I had a question that needed answering.

Hmm!

Two methods to using hero cars in Destruction All-Stars.

Method 1:

Method 2:

i’m pretty sure that starting using clear data keeps you at whatever level you were previously at and the BBI content is accessible basically right after the opening dragon scene in the first small village? that’s what I remember at least, hopefully i’m not mistaken because i’ve never had a problem after the restart

edit: yeah the new game plus keeps everything about your character the same, you just start back at the first village and you need to grab your clothes from the innkeeper at either the village or the BBI area

hard mode like a new game plus? I might triple dip

I finally beat They Are Billions survival mode.

Along with Doom Eternal and Shadow of War, it’s one of the games that I think I’ve beaten out of sheer stubborn defiance to find something redeeming in a game I’m otherwise not enjoying.

In They Are Billions’ case, I do enjoy zombie RTS maps, and I always like the concept of layering your base so that you have multiple fallback points to recover from a loss. That’s about it.

Now let’s talk about what fucking blows ass about this game:

  • Steampunk art style. My god do I hate steampunk.
  • Mandatory permadeath. This wouldn’t be so awful if there was some variety to the strategies you can take, but…
  • There’s only one faction which has ~atrocious~ unit variety. Hope you like seeing the same guys over and over and over again! There’s no casters or other interesting micro units in this game like in Starcraft, just brute force attacker units.
  • All micro is basically just kiting guys with your Soldiers
  • Basically only one way to beat the game, which is to double-layer two-cell-wide walls with AoE towers and cheap turrets.
  • Really easy to lose a map in the first five minutes and not realize it
  • Sheer monotony as you realize every single map will play out the same forever

This is truly one of the most loathsome RTS games I’ve ever played.

Look at it this way, in NG+ you’ll feel more like you deserve the praise you get from people in the game. Like my first run I’m fumbling about at low levels through sheer persistence but then everybody is going on about how cool or powerful I am and shit. Second time through and now yeah I’m smacking the shit out of that hydra, and chimeras ain’t no big deal.

The battles are so fun, finding your role in whatever the AI is doing. The game is so good, rough sketch of a concept that it is.

hard mode is new game plus-esque yeah! BBI is also good to run if you’ve finished the game once, from what I can tell that’s about the level that BBI content is difficult but manageable

That’s an issue, sure, but I would point out that with all the information available in the game, there are multiple culprits responsible for different aspects of this crime, so you won’t be charging just one person. You need to gather evidence on all of them. That said, if you’re not having fun with the investigation, there’s not much reason to continue.
