Games You Played Today: Actress Again: Current Code (Part 1)

played Wave Race

Wave Race is a good and good-looking game

is there something wrong with my brain

So you are saying if I want the America part I should just pay my 5 bucks for Online?

try Handling 6, Engine 9, Grip 12 for the optimal jeter speedyboi settings

jeter is a fuck anyway

no that’s not loose enough

what’s more american than being an outlaw dreaming of a truer freer world while being hounded to extinction by the law

it is with deep regret that I come here to say that I have reinstalled Genshin Impact

wish damage: 25 weapons (hello darkness my old friend), a Lisa dupe (eh), a Xingqiu dupe (cool), Sucrose (neat), Qiqi (about fucking time)

now to waste my life grinding level up mats for everything

If I could actually change just one thing about Like a Dragon I would really only want one player avatar physically present outside of combat. Walking around the city drives me bonkers – just a constant stream of “oof!” sound effects trailing in my wake because my AI party members crash into NPCs fucking constantly, and they knock over bikes and road cones and shit with abandon.

I have a real love/hate thing going with this game I must admit.

like that scene in the second matrix movie where neo is flying around the city with cars and stuff just trailing in his wake

im sure it’s more annoying in practice but playing an rpg pastiche straight where your party members dutifully follow behind you in a row and are constantly tripping over shit and bumping into people as a result is very funny to me

because I am a fool I attempted to put some more time into Agents of Mayhem to see if it ever “gets good” and, I’m pretty sure I can firmly say “no”

despite managing to land a much better ratio of “jokes” to “joke shaped sentences which are not jokes” in the hours after the intro, it never bothers to add any, uh, gameplay. you’ll be fighting the same handful of enemies in cookie cutter evil lairs, and the open world

the cookie cutter evil lairs would be bad enough as optional open world content, but they’re also required to progress at the “global mayhem” system (basically an XCOM-lite “send agents out while I play with someone else” setup)

like there was a point where I’d had a half dozen “enter the next room” objectives in a row and I realised the game was just explicitly wasting my time, and I alt-f4’d

it’s a real shame, I had hoped there was something to like in here, and, one instance of actually-funny, Italian-pandering dialogue aside, there’s just nothing

I can completely see why “they were planning for this to be a 1-3 player co-op thing like Borderlands but ran out of money” is a popular conspiracy theory on the internet, but I’m not sure even that game would’ve been better if the writing was like this

so with that firmly in the “I give up” pile, I started playing some Saints Row 2, which is a game I don’t think I could really recommend in 2021 but somehow despite the many glaring problems is much more fun than AoM

New New Prey, not Regular New Prey which is a weird Turok/Quake 2 mashup:

First 30 minutes: this is really impressive, I love this, immediately cool opening twist
Second 30 minutes: very minimal tutorializing, immediately get to explore, I’m already figuring things out from relatively subtle environmental storytelling
Third 30 minutes: oh they just tell you what’s going on. Well. Ok.
Fourth 3 hours: ok so it’s Bioshock if it didn’t suck

there are a lot more choices than the bioshock likeness might lead you to believe

It’s a better System Shock 2 than SS2, without even having to mention any other -shock game

yeah i think Prey is more System Shock 2 than Bioshock. i like the whole 50’s retro future design of the spaceship also. the game is surprisingly hard on normal also but rewards my hoarding tendencies.

I don’t recall why I didn’t finish it, maybe the structure got a little predictable but yeah overall pretty good game! I want to go back and try the Mooncrash thing

Is this Mooncrash or something else?

I think by “regular new prey” he meant the Prey that was on 360.
