My gf told me you can play co-op in OpenRCT2, so we did that last night and it was really fun actually! We spent half the time renaming everything to stuff that made us laugh.

glad the next upgrade for ol PSO2 is going from charming 2010 MMO vomit graphics to looking like one of the many shitty h-games now available on steam. proud of you sega

Can you elaborate on the visual cues that make it look ‘porny’?

Shaders

Lighting

The tongue slider

Porcelain skin

For the record, there’s a skin sheen slider too

Maxing it out is supposed to look metallic but instead makes you look like you fell into a vat of hair gel

Heh

I guess I have a hard time differentiating this from other anime-styled 3D implementations. Like, no detail skin texture (porcelain texture, no subsurface scattering (resulting in plasticky skin going to black too quickly in shadowed regions), lack of facial definition…

It’s too “realistic” in the mouth and nose for most anime art styles

Man I wish shitty porn games on steam looked this good. Most of them seem to use uncanny valley old Poser/Unity store stuff.

it literally looks like honey select or ai shoujo or any of the 49 billion hentai games on steam that aren’t made by kiwifarms users or chinese content farms. if im lucky I’ll get PSO2 in my recommendations now instead because I like danganronpa and steins;gate or whatever valves explanation is. these character models are built for cum, busted

(looking up reference)

I don’t think I get it, still. Line between ‘fashion animes’ and ‘sex animes’ may be thin but there’s a…dewiness to the porn game models and a focus on real/superreal textures in selected areas - irises, lips, where PSO2 prefers to keep flat, gestural; looking at gallery shots of PSO2, it’s definitely directed towards a pale and pastel look, a conscious choice to develop a style. ‘Mouth and nose modeling’ is an answer I can understand even if I can’t really see it

Just played Nocturne up to the first fusion area, I’m enjoying it.
Played Rain World a bit ago, it was starting to grow on me a little, but I don’t think I’ll play it again anytime very soon. I think I could enjoy it, so I will return to it eventually. I don’t really like the karma system, though I do like being rewarded for surviving I guess.
Resident Evil Remaster was fun, I was kind of busy and haven’t finished it yet. Original tank controls all the way, turning should feel dreamlike in this camera system imo

Oh yeah, I checked a game out on smile basic

It’s basically Tower of Druaga with a few improvements and changes, it’s neat. Except you still move slowly at first. The main character has a shield around her but it doesn’t seem to do much of anything at first, instead of a sword she casts fire which drains her rechargeable mp. I kind of like drawing your sword and having your shield face a different direction, gives Gil a bit more shape, but this is fine too.
Jellies seem more dangerous without something to quickly stick them with, they might be a bit more aggressive too, not sure. You can see the condition of your pickaxe before using it, great! There’s an additional chest that spawns if you walk over a randomly placed activation tile, I think they all contain potions. There’s also leveling up, ehhh. Instead of blocking the wizards rays with your shield, you have to cancel them with your shots.

I did not expect to pick the HD remaster of a PS2 game I knew nothing about over the HD remaster of GOAT Nocturne but here we are

Kowloon High School Chronicles… is great. PS2 beauty

The game is filled with dumb first person RPG puzzles…. Pushing Anubis statues around… Combining two liquids to dissolve some golden chains blocking the way… it’s good

Battles are almost T-RPG, but solo and first person. Each turn you get action points you can spend on moving and/or attacking. It’s like Treasure Hunter G.
You have a knife, but can attack from afar with guns and grenades. In order to shoot you have to move a reticule like in a FPS, which is kind of pointless because the game is turn based, but cool. Guns are frankly overpowered but inventory and resource management seem important and non-trivial and I may have to rely on the old knife for a large part of the game

The game’s pretty janky in a way I haven’t experienced in a while. Controls take a while to get used to and I started the game by mistakingly hurling my two precious grenades on the wall
When fighting the tutorial boss I spent my first turn unloading my machinegun on the boss, then it spit a fireball that instantly killed me. The scene seemed straight out of an action movie, and I was the expandable character who instantly dies
Then the second time I fought the boss I hid behind a pillar like a coward and shot it from there and the boss couldn’t even reach me. I hope the game maintains this level of weird jank

You rarely get to choose what to say in that game, instead your reactions are based on that weird glyph. It’s probably fully explained in the old PS2 manual we don’t have access too, but the in-game tutorial is lacking. What I generally get is that there are 4 emotions that you can « boost » to convey more passion. The upper and right emotions are positive and the lower and left ones negative. It’s unclear. I already have made about 20 choices and might have invariably screwed up my save already by yelling at random when I didn’t mean to, several times

You can also play a pseudo 8bit VN / RPG inside the game:

And there’s a Cowboy Bebop pastiche intro

I don’t think we’ve collectively realized that we just got the remaster + translation of a very weird new cool PS2 JRPG

I was curious about this game too, apparently it has some wild difficulty spikes.
Can you turn off the PDA announcer voice? Seems that would get annoying quickly

sick, i’ve been looking forward to this one. glad it’s interesting
