who are you trying to impress wearin your bear sideways
Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair is mercilessly condescending. It is constantly stopping you to explain far too much story. To make jokes that wow āthe character designs suckā. Yeah they do game Iām playing you. "Woah donāt you get it, itās a PAYWALL.ā āEPIC FAILā. āBETTER THAN THE LAST GAME.ā
And then it had trinkets in the level I couldnāt pick up yet. Come back later for more fun.
Penis Joke Penis Joke Penis Joke arenāt we cheeky Itās a fun game for kids but really you adults are gonna get a kick out of it.
Howās the platforming and stuff though, any good?
Itās okay? I guess. I made >:| face that like the humor and the look and everything about this game it expects you to already know a glitch from Donkey Kong Country that became a feature in the future titles (that you could roll off cliffs and then hit jump.)
I stopped and uninstalled when after being a stage there was a long long conversation that I should use NEW THING on STAGE ICON to MAYBE CHANGE THE STAGE.
been playing Sim City (SNES) and Final Fantasy V (SNES) lately.
i never owned Sim City as a kid - idk why!! maybe i found it intimidating when the SNES first came out? but then i played it on PCs at school, so i should have gone back and bought it. oh well.
the game is definitely lacking in āfeaturesā that i know later titles use, but itās extremely charming and relaxing, so itās nice to play. iāve never beaten a Sim City game (or whatever its āwinā condition is), so itās been nice to develop a city that seems to be growing steadily.
FFV was the first import game i ever purchased as a kid. i enjoyed my time with it then, playing alongside the few hundred pages of GameFAQs translation i had printed, but never got too far. the PSX FF ports always made my insides hurt, and i skipped the GBA port, so now iām playing a romhack on the Super NT.
i think FFV will remain in the category of ānot my favorite FF game,ā but it sure is a lot of fun to play.
Gba is fun, the new jobs are hot, the equip menu explains which equipment have special effects, and the new boss looks cool and makes sense canonically
yeah actually just realized while reading a wiki about the jobs that the GBA and iOS ports have new jobs! iām jealous!!
theyre hilarious, gladiator has an ability thats a guaranteed 9999 lol
necromancer is cool if you, like me, love blue mages
My other comment is that this game is too damn slow! The same concepts are repeated too many times. But I am at chapter one, which is a tutorial, so I really hope it gets better than this.
Today I finished DW Bradleyās Wizards and Warriors, a game I first played on its release in September 2000. In January of 2019 I started a new game with the intent to finally beat it. And now, in the waning days of Summer 2021, I have finally done it.
A spiritual sequel to Wizardry 7 ā another game I toiled at for years in my youth ā Wizards and Warriors is a first person, party-based, role playing game made with a fully 3d engine. Systems-wise it bears a lot of similarity to Wizardry 7, but the 3d engine allows for more complex dungeon designs and DW Bradley takes advantage. Really, the dungeons are the high point of the experience, with pen and paper RPG influenced layouts and puzzles. Thereās even a Dungeon Master of sorts in the form of a disembodied narrator(who turns out to be a dragon reading a bed-time story to his dragon-children according to the end of game cutscene!)
gog.com has the game if youāre curious. I wouldnāt recommend it to everyone, but it is a excellent game in many respects. The character building and dungeon design belong in GOAT discussions. The balance really falls off in the last half to third of the game ā combat becomes too easy ā but Iād suggest any RPG aficionado play through at least the first two dungeons.
Some screenshots:
Senās fortress?

Within the Dark Lord Cetās pyramid:

Zenmaster: the best class in the game cannot be unlocked before the final dungeon:

nope. it also has no sound!
still fun
My partner just got to the part in Psychonauts 2 with Rikki Simons as Razās archetype doing the GIR voice from Invader Zim and she has completely soured on the game lol
re this arcade, it is sorely missing Outrun 2
mmmmm the cake level in Psychonauts 2 made me want to eat cake
Further developments re: this cameo
- this comes near the point of no return and there are collectibles in every preceding level that require this character
- there is an upgrade in the ottomatic shop called āGag Orderā with the description āMuffles [character] to give your ears a rest!ā
Easily the funniest shit in the game
It feels extremely apt that the single most obnoxious entity you could possibly encounter is an alternate version of yourself.
In the last month Ive mainly played Basic Fantasy Role Playing Game with my housemates. My little brother is referee and we have played with as few as two and as many as four player characters.
In the last session we killed a bear (thanks to NPC hirelings with a paralysis spell and another players foresight to buy a bear trap) and took it back to town but we very nearly died to a bunch of kobolds on the return trip! If they had passed the morale check when we had dispatched half of them, we would not have survived.
We lost a player character to a wolf a few sessions ago but my roommate/my brothers partner, rolled a character with just one HP again!!! A single hit point and they chose to dual class, so it will take a lot of time before they can get more health lol.
So far I have been the only player to level up her character. My guy is a Fighter named Sluice Slimegate and he is a human, 49 years old. He looks like a chunky Kevin Costner who was raised in a sewer and he fights with a trident he found in our first session. He is very suspicious of non-humans but he has befriended a goblin (rip Small Leader) as well as a dwarf (long live Shlomo). I actually rolled so well upon leveling and his health went from 7HP to 14!
Its really scary being a tank though! I am constantly tempted to abandon my party. My housemates both have characters with one HP, even after one of them died and rolled a new one!!! Itās bullshit, LOL. I sometimes feel like Im soloing. The best mechanic is for BRACING when an enemy charges. Also using back attacks and other things to get damage bonus.
Weāre playing a slightly expanded version of beginners module called Morgansfort, or āThe Olde Island Fortressā. My understanding is that this was a popular D&D module which was adapted for BFRPG. Itās pretty cool, apparently there are four dungeons in the region map and we have spent more than a month visiting only one of em (granted there was a hiatus). We just finally cleared the first floor of the Island Fortress. Sluice made bet with some guy in town that he could bring back a ghoulās head and the ghouls are in the basement so itās nearly time⦠I hope to God my man can make it to level three.
This shit is way better than video games.
Final Fantasy XV is just a big goopy pile of stuff. It is a tragedy of mythic proportions that you could spend this much money on making a game and it is almost not a game.
Quake ARCANE DIMENSIONS!
Iāve been stuck on The Hordes of Zendar. Damn! It is a hard one. At least it is on Nightmare. I still enjoy the combat and the level design, so I donāt mind having to do it over and over again. But I can only put in a few attempts a day at this point. Thereās this NUTS combat sequence near what I am assuming is the end where waves of enemies spawn into the arena, and from above too, which concludes with a rumble against two Shamblers. Seriously tough stuff. Havenāt ever thought any other level in Quake or any of the expansions was this toughā¦
if Quake mods are anything like Doom wads then the default difficulty of your average level is just way higher than any commercial release. iāve had to regularly play Quake fan levels on easy for this reason.
