Games You Played Today: 13 Going On 30

Ok I was less tired tonight and played Kirby Air Riders quite a bit more. Turns out jumping into City Trial right off the bat was a mistake. The Road Trip mode is an excellent introduction to the game and really eases you into the chaos. I like that it follows the same branching-path format as the memorable tour mode in Meteos (maybe the best DS game?). You get one discrete bite sized challenge at a time, so you can get a lovely sample of every aspect of the game. It kind of feels like listening to a music playlist, except the songs are packets of gameplay.

I see… So that’s the way it is…

also internet when i type ā€œhow do i not lose in the baby game for childrenā€ and i specifically put GAMECUBE in the search query, that DOES NOT mean i’m actually looking for SWITCH 2 ACHIEVEMENTS LIST, thank you god bless

the best way to not lose in a game is to have parents that won’t buy you any other game so you don’t have a choice except to get really good at the only game you have

its nuts how intense Kirby air riders seems to be

Air ride is all about braking as late as you can and just long enough to boost out of the corner. Other than course memorization thats basically the solution to the main race mode.

I completed the pool area a few months ago and moved on to the suburban area, but after finding a key and wandering aimlessly for a while I lost interest.

Today I noticed they added a new hotel area and I just completed that in one sitting. (I happened to guess what I was supposed to do.) I should probably go back and try the playroom area at some point.

Ooh Thief 2 has a level called Framed which sees you sneaking into a police station, breaking into the evidence vault, dropping a personal item belonging to the police captain inside, and also dropping off looted evidence in his office. And you have to do this without killing anyone, like usual, but also without knocking anyone out or being see. And it was thrilling to play!

So far I am liking this one quite a lot. The City is cool to see more of. They did really good world building with this one.

just finished Keeper, and, well, leave it to me to like a Double Fine game for the very first time in 2025, but I thought it was great. genuinely beautiful and visually inventive the whole way through (I can count on one hand the number of games I’ve played that justify this GPU, and it’s on there, along with Alan Wake 2 and Outlaws), simple puzzles but really fun storytelling and pacing.

also got Phantom Brigade because the 2.0 patch is apparently good, I’d ignored it before, and I guess I wanted to give an SRPG another shot after not liking Demonschool

My disease for mediocre PS360 FPS continues with TIMESHIFT. It is Vay. Vay again, being a Sega CD game that I found a Japanese review of that said, ā€œThere is nothing positive or negative to say about this game.ā€

gave this 45 minutes, same problem as Battletech imo — they forgot to put anything but Systems in this game, which doesn’t work for me for something this involved

The multiplayer in this was pretty cool and had some mechanics that weren’t present in the campaign, namely, grenades that create bubbles where different time effects (slow, reverse, etc) are in, uh, effect.

It’s really funny how all these sewer levels that Wario is walking between in Picross 2 make images of the romantic life of a couple.

I also can’t make myself go back to the Mario levels. It drives me fucking nuts to make a mistake and lose time in a Picross game. The first thing I do in the modern Jupiter games is disable all hints. Do not make buzzer noises or weird little disappointed screeches at me. Let me find out near the end that I fucked up.

The Wario levels…that’s where it’s at…

azumi does NOT make the horny moan upon death, but it sounds like they tried to make him sound goofy on purpose

IM IN THE DARK REALM and there arent any random battles its just dudes on the map you can just run right by and there just arent enemies period in the town in the light realm. getting rid of elemental bullets and just giving me spells instead was an intersting choice but i am happy i dont have to budget my monies for bullets they just recharge over time. i hope i can spend money on holding more bullets thatd be fucking cool let me shoot more and suck MP and have my two demons do all the work

I’m playing smt v: vengeance. smtvv. it looks like my keyboard is fucked up. which it kind of is

im this guy

also a preta showed me his penis and asked me how i like to fuck

the netherworld is a place where everyone has a weak sense of boundaries

you know what was awesome though is when i got into five consecutive battles with like 12 slimes. realizing the magatsuhi every attack is a critical skill applies to the first turn of every consecutive battle as well…thats fucking gaming

Beat Dubio, was a pleasant couple hour long ā€œrun this simple one button mechanic through a bunch of short stagesā€ experience, hilariously it basically hangs up right after the end credits: it loads what looks like a couple planets on a star background but trying to do anything basically freezes the stars from scrolling for a few seconds rather than I assume point you towards whatever bonus content you may have unlocked. As-is I’m just gonna take that as a sign that I should just pretend there is no bonus content and consider this good enough.

Kinda a rough break to create a bunch of ā€œokay here is the sicko stuff for those who want moreā€ and then fumble the having it appear part, instead forcing me to hard shut down the program due to unresponsiveness instead :\
