Might be thinking of Demon Chaos?

no, i specifically remember it being mostly black and white like chaos legion is (is it?). and demon chaos is ā€œabsurdly big numbers musouā€, i’m sure of that

Yeah fair enough.

Chaos legion is def some kind of anime gothic aesthetic. The games plot is some nonsense about the MC’s love dying for some plot the evil guy is doing to take over the world that spurned him. I assume it went with a en media res plot because there’s a series of light novels that came before it. I think one of them got translated at some point but I haven’t check in a while. It was very my thing for high school me.

skate 2 - it feels like early christianity. what a lovely party

skate 2025 - it feels like skating under a machine of loving grace. what a lovely party. collecting stock music from the universal music group production library is a game mechanic

I can’t be stopped.

Air Ranger Rescue Helicopter (PS2) is a helicopter sim game advised by a real Rescue Helicopter pilot. It seems to take place in San Francisco for whatever reason. The second mission had me lowering my copilot to rescue people from a sinking cruise liner. That dude swung around wildly with every movement and there are no good camera angles in this game (you can look from where you took off at any time.) I had to quit I got so stressed out. Perfect No Budget Game With A Purpose (we don’t get these anymore.)

Para Para Paradise the controller for this eludes me but I did play some with the normal controller. I have no love for eurobeat outside of this exact context in which I love it. Turns out my component to cheap upscaler to hdtv doesn’t have that much lag.

Eternal Ring is…this just worse King Field? It seems like bad King’s Field. I finally found a ring before I quit for the night. The blazing neon green of the first town’s grass during the day is a powerful image. I can’t imagine who wanted this in 2000, or was happy to have it. (Note I played KF2j earlier this year and found it transcendent.)

as a huge king’s field fan, i basically agree that it is worse king’s field. for sickos only. i do like how it makes a ton of changes to the king’s field formula, but since i love that formula, i end up thinking nearly every change is for the worse.

2 bits of context

  • it’s FromSoft’s attempt to make their first-person combat more dynamic by means of the magic system
  • it was smaller-scope and probably somewhat rushed as well to make sure it hit PS2 launch (one of 3 FromSoft PS2 launch titles along with Armored Core 2 and Evergrace). it’s a test run for the new PS2 engine that later gets refined in KF4 and Shadow Tower Abyss

i think the magic system is interesting but it can’t rescue the rest of the game from being overly linear and sloggy. it definitely isn’t as good as any of the PS1 King’s Field games.

Dungeon Keeper Nexus:

I finally hit a load zone. SO I guess Im in ā€œlevel 2ā€ more or less. This game does not have distinct floors.
Three new monsters, one with a weapon in hand. Talked to the dead. Hit huge intersection with ominous signs. The game has some subtle jokes. Had an Indiana Jones moment.
I learned how to make potions; giving Wuuf more to do than look adorable and throw stuff. We accidently synthesized a type of potion I don’t have a scroll for which is pretty fascinating. I think Im going to have to start taking notes on magic and doing experiments.

Yeah is this is a good game, Im gonna stick with it.

Life has been haywire lately, but I did get What the Golf from a Humble Bundle and have been playing that some. Another weird game where I had it on Switch and played what I felt was a fair amount, but I’ve played way way more of it in a short time on my Steam Deck.

It’s clever, I like the extra objectives per hole more than most of the basic ones. I could do without the multiple ā€œCovfefeā€ references.

I’m willing to accept very vague inspirations, but I don’t think this is accurate.

i’ve been playing rune factory: guardians of azuma. it’s a very good game for not wanting to think too much

but why did i start ffxiii? i’m reading the datalogs this time too. i have started this game probably about three times before this and i still did not remember any of what i just saw. but i definitely know that if a fal’Cie brands someone they become a l’Cie and have to complete their Focus (which is communicated VERY HAZILY) or else they become a Cie’th! and IF THEY COMPLETE THEIR FOCUS they become CRYSTAL and will be granted ETERNAL LIFE! i know this now!!!

I was told to delete the game by a korean player and then when we won our heroes of the storm quickmatch I typed : ā€œgood game" ā€œgamsahamnidaā€ and he left 2 seconds after.

He was Raynor and I was Tyrande.

Crossworlds: well the marketing campaign was good but it’s way less interesting than Transformed on every level still – less well-themed, less charming, the driving is less good, etc.

Old sumo digital is not coming back imo… I would say skip the new one unless they really go berserk with the added content
