I was stupid and bought the Turtles in Time soundtrack on vinyl and it sucks. They did nothing to arrange the soundtrack to make it pleasing for a vinyl listen. So you just get the songs in order and then it finishes with a bunch of sound effects. It is an extremely unpleasant listen and I’ve only done it once.

It could have just been Sewer Surfin’ for 38 minutes and everyone involved would have been happy.

Seconding the thought, kinda feel that VG vinyl re-releases seem to forget that they are a pure luxury item today, and that they should lean heavily into it because if you just want the OST, you can rip/mp3/spotify/youtube/CD it anyway.

Put wacky re-interpretations or uncut versiones on it! Give us some wild remixes or Orchestra versions that never were, just do sth with it aside from

look, this vinyl is — wait for it — it is blue :sunglasses:

this.
Shoutout to Chrono Cross Vinyl I’ve posted earlier on (wait I DIDN’T?), that went wild with

this release.
(edit: Wild as in putting some new re-arrangements on it, with liner notes).

edit edit:

thanks Megatron for being a Vinyl collector, wouldn’t have thought after your documentaries fighting with Optimus & Crew :tarothink: )

I think this more often backfires (and there are currently plenty of video game cover bands doing this on vinyl) but you gotta make it more of an artistic object than “here are songs, in a order enjoy.” Like just because Stage 3 comes after Stage 2 doesn’t mean they sound good back to back.

Like CD I am more lientent on. But a vinyl is something you put on then sit down and listen to and it needs to hang together for 18-22 minutes and then you flip it and it is another 18-22 minutes.

The Silent Hill vinyls also have this problem which yeah if you got Akira Yamaoka involved let him make a vinyl specific arrangment. You can trust that guy to make it a real piece.

dang, nice, what’s the tracklist like?

It’s the arcade and the saturn versions on 2 discs with some new 2024 bonus tracks. I haven’t listened to the bonus tracks yet, just a couple saturn tracks, and they seem full length unlike the “complete” 1996 CD which is why I bought this
