FUCK YEAH DRAGON QUEST (Part 2)

perusing the website for this film, i think i’m pretty sure it’s a doujin thing made by just One Guy using a metric ton of AI sauce (i don’t know japanese so i’m just guessing based off of vibes from google translate)

Valor’s Kids 2

I checked the description and yeah this is all AI generated shit (visual and voice) on top of free stock background assets

How did folks feel about 2d mode in DQ11

It’s a cool gimmick to mess around with for a bit, but a slog to play the whole game with.

quick dragon quest monsters the dark prince vibe check-in, i will not be exaggerating details

that’s rose at the top of her tower lamenting that protagonist psaro manslayer, after a fade to black, did an offscreen preemptive war crime against a whole town after his advisor informed him that they might be mobilizing against him in the near future

later psaro would meet his own little brother he never knew he had and within a few hours would murder him deader than shit inside a volcano without shedding a tear

also, lest i think i am 100% immune to the power of fanservice,

that’s healie from dqiv chapter 1, and they’ve got their eyes closed because they’re about to undergo a junior version of the Secret of Evolution that psaro’s mad scientist in residence has been working on so that they can take on a human form temporarily because they want to return to the surface world on a mission to reunite with ragnar ;___;

on one hand this is a funny game to be spoiler-tagging this much, on the other hand wow

the alltrades abbey bonus content on switch where you visit the old DQ game worlds is plenty of 2D mode, no reason to do the whole game that way

rest in peace the god toriyama!!

does everyone know that anecdote about how yuji horii and toriyama were basically tricked by management into working together and horii would tell him what he wanted just like “slime, skeleton, dragon” and send him rough sketches and then was baffled when everything came back adorable and was like “what the hell” and then was like “…this is the juice”

we have never needed more illustrators owning the entire presentation of a videogame series more urgently

it’s the only way out of darkness

I played through Dragon Quest V last year without a guide, but it was the mobile port of the DS version with the dogshit localization that destroyed the tone of the whole thing

one of the vital characters was written as Ned Flanders which made me want to gouge my eyes out

Last year I played DQ1 blind without a guide and found it a very pleasant and intuitive experience. Then I tried to play 2 the same way and got absolutely crushed.

I think I remember reading somewhere that 2 specifically may be the least intuitive or most difficult dq games, should I just grab a walkthrough? Or is it doable without and I’m just being a baby?

If you’re getting crushed by battles, there’s nothing really unintuitive about those. You might just need to grind more than you did in 1. If you’re having trouble figuring out where to go next, well, my advice would also be to grind, so you can relax at a higher level and figure things out.

There is a part later where you have to search the entire world map for certain items (including where you actually have to search the ground) and it can be very unintuitive and hopeless without a guide for some of those. I don’t have an opinion about the infamously hard cave towards the end bc I was exhausted with the game and quit lol
