it surely does not. but snes ver didnt get an official localization
everybody play the ps2 version of dq5…!
I like that, at least on DQ11 Switch, I can select DQVIII soundtrack for the overworld map (i guess it is part of the dlc?)
It’s much nicer, less pompous, and laid back for the overworld.
i can’t think of an rpg overworld track that gives me a greater sense of wanderlust than dqviii’s
Yes, it’s really beautiful and subdued.
The “stock” one feels overcharged all the time, even at the first moments on the game, where I found it out of place.
In general, I agree with some people on the internet who consider the tracks not very good, even if I am still quite early in the game.
I love the japanese themed one, though.
somehow it feels fitting that yuji horii’s twitter account doesn’t have a blue-check
I am at the casino of “Puerto Something” and it’s damn boring.
I really want those wonderful items (starting from the Platinum Greatsword), and i have accumulated 50k at the slot machine. But it is so terribly boring.
Any other ways, cheats?
honestly, I would just skip the casino. Pretty sure you can get the platinum greatsword another way later on
The most basic slots are actually rigged in your favor; I found that fast enough for most purposes.
There’s also a trick to the roulette jackpot that requires a bit of save scumming but should take <15 minutes to get.
yeah regular slots and listen to those reels click by baby
Has anyone gotten the fancy ‘adventure’ slots to pay out? Am I right in my understanding that you’re required to be able to time the reel stops to play them effectively?
the way to win in the casino is when you get to the one with high stakes roulette you ALWAYS bet on even, odd and the chest slot
for some reason youll get a ridiculous amount of fucking jackpots. i won so many fucking times
it could be patched out but BOY HOWDY i got so much money from roulette (i looked it up and other people were doing the same thing so i think its an exploit and not superstition)
pay out how? ive never ‘beat’ the slime slots but ive made big profits on them. i barely remember now but i think theres a person to talk to that gives you hints on which machines are paying out?
i love gambling when theres no risk involved
Yeah, as in make profits. I was following NPC advice and investing more than the time to turn around the basic slots (they absolutely wait a certain number of spins before getting ‘hot’! It’s so anthropomorphized to human beliefs around luck!), but it wasn’t working; I kept failing the ‘boss battles’ and wasn’t making good use of ‘metal mode’ and such.
It requires such a delicate touch but Dragon Quest does it well
I could not be bothered to do any of the casino stuff, and I spent most of the gold I got in the game on just buying the handful of things you need to get from the casino in straight cash equivalents
I think you do have to be able to time the slots (and there’s an item that slows them down iirc?) but it doesn’t seem worth it. Much easier to just have the regular slots spinning in the background and feel the dopamine hit when you get metal mode over and over again. Pretty much guaranteed to be swimming in tokens after an hour.
I guess that’s the beauty of it though huh, it sounds like whatever you do you’re guaranteed to win a lot of money while still feeling like you’re pulling one over on the game. Always rewarded with time investment (which is the DQ special i suppose in every way)
i just played the adventure slots like regular ass slots that leveled up and did fine. i thought the four pages of instructions were a joke and it was just normal slots with progression… maybe that’s why i did okay? i could get like 4-5 of the lights lit up. i would always start on a machine that had one or two lit already though
regular expensive slots and high stakes roulette are the money makers i think
it took me an hour to get every piece of equipment i needed bc of roulette
but then i spent like three more hours winning over and over because IM HITTING JACKPOT ON ROULETTE CONSTANTLY LEMME SEE THOSE COINS FALL
also i wanted the accolades
The roulette will be available at the end of a future act, from what i have read.
@BustedAstromech can you explain the save scumming trick you were mentioning?
