What’s the catch? I guess you’re not entitled to a refund if you don’t buy directly from steam?
that’s pretty much it, yeah
I saw this kotaku video in my recommended videos on YouTube. I added it to a playlist and just watched some other videos on it. Then it came up when I was kinda distracted and I heard Tim’s voice. An honest to god “shyyyyat, ma boy!” left my lips. I was surprised by it myself but I thought, now it’s gon get real, this is gon be good. I was at full attention
this video is cute but it basically just confirms that this is indeed a dragon quest game
The US Launch is perfect for them announcing the Switch release date at TGS.
everyone else here got it several days ago from shopto, so im feeling like a silly sausage right now
I bought it digital but kinda wish I had gotten it on disc
I play most games at a glacial pace so I guess not having to put the disc in over the next four months will be a nice convenience.
The place nearby that often sells early won’t be open tomorrow. Tempted to go digital just so I can play asap.
Whew early onset DQ fever! Trying to avoid a manic swing back from the last 24 hours (previously bright now grey) so, maybe tonight’s for binging V on PS2.
We’re doing Dragon Quest night in Anime Club tomorrow, 9/4 starting at 8PM EST so maybe log on to https://cytu.be/r/sbanimeclub if you wanna see some DQ-related J-toons.
Surprised that the voices in this game have pretty natural delivery! The occasional sound from the protagonist is a nice touch too, it makes them seem present and not a completely silent husk. I was expecting to turn voices off immediately but I’ll keep them on I think!
i’ve also warmed to the voices
like these things have so much charm i can’t be cynical
anyone playing with the hard mode settings?
yeah i’m playing tough monsters and the xp disadvantage one. curious to hear thoughts— i’m pretty committed to monster buff at least, haven’t necessary settled on xp thing
Hear hear for those voices, definitely a step or two smoother than what I expected.
Might try fine tuning difficulty settings later. I expect the beginning to be cakey but so far enemies all hit pretty lightly.
just fyi you can only apply the challenge things at the beginning! you can just remove them later if you want
I’m excited to get off work and play this game tonight!
In preparation, over the past week I played Dragon Quest 1 for the first time, the original NES version. It was surprisingly fun! A great deal of grinding, but otherwise quite breezy and well balanced. It was an excellent game to listen to podcasts during. It also gave me a bit more context for where Mother 1 was coming from.
there’s a wonderful ode to mother 2 in the first hour of xi
No way. OK, I was already pretty hype but you just took me to the next level.
