Why does the PS4 version of DQ1 look an even shittier version of the already iffy mobile version. Like why would a company go through the effort of redrawing those battle sprites.

Hopefully the English version has a better font at least?? I cannot play the SE iOS games because the fonts are so damn bad, and that bums me out cuz I think DQ1 is a real pleasant game and 3 is one of my favorites of all times.

I’ve always been fond of the word “prestidigitator” but I typically can’t stand the little shits themselves

Let’s never forget Gasgon, invented for Dragon Quest Monsters simply to have a Dragon/Plant hybrid. I’m not sure how inflating a dragon is related to plants but hey

My favorites are all in dq7. Which is weird–I’m pretty sure toriyama didn’t design these? They’re a lot creepier. That game has some great art direction in general. I still recommend everyone play the ps1 version. I’m like 100 hours in, it’s great. I wish I could find some animated sprite gifs to post instead.

y’all are making it really hard to pick, these are all excellent. I can at least say I remember poring over a magazine walkthrough of DQM as a kid, looking at all the neat monsters and thinking about how different it must feel from pokemon
