i think this may be the default beet salad, but: roasted beets, some kind of creamy dairy situation, citrus wedges/zest/juice, honey, and some crunchy nuts

smoked beets are also very good, but i’ve never attempted to smoke anything. there’s a shortcut i’ve seen in some indian recipes of sticking some burning wood/charcoal in a little metal container in your cookpot and then covering it to infuse for a while

my default beet salad is ukrainian vinegret: boiled beets, carrots, and potatoes, all diced up, pickles (and the pickle juice), dill, sunflower oil

edit: just realized this is a vegan dish so it might be a good option for meetups

I love to grate beets and mix with horesradish for sweet and spicy. It’s great on fish. Sliced beet on sa burger is also premiyum.

yeah the movie theater popcorn recipe is butter flavored topping and flavacol

the movie theater I worked at would reuse the butter flavored topping until it was rancid, which took a while because the only organic ingredient in it was partially hydrogenated soybean oil

Not just the butter topping, but the oil & salt used for popping were colors and consistencies I’ve never seen before or since. Purely industrial

it’s all just soybean oil with a ton of additives, so its basically the same

The place I worked at used real butter but it was also fuckin disgusting and rancid

A Tim Hortons openedin my town annd I got to try it for the first time. Was way too sweet for me, though they did have iced coffee. There’s a Donut Palace run by Cambodians right across the street from the new Tim’s and it is so much better but people were swarming to try the tims. Hope that Donut Palace doesn’t suffer from the competition. Donut Palace is so good.

drizzle olive oil, turmeric, dehydrated lime powder, yuzu super juice
drips mayo, diluted with lemon juice
pieces sliced mandarin, cucumbers, avacado, grilled mango from a jar
sprinkles aleppo pepper flakes, parsley
forgot in the fridge cubed pear, microgreens
also rice in small bowl

Yesterday I ate potatoes and egg, a turkey sandwich, a microwave beef and bean burrito, a lunchables, a can of green beans, some blueberries, and someone else’s chicken tenders. So I might not lose weight this week.

i mixed sour cherry syrup into some milk and made Cherry Milk. it’s great.

oh yummm! the lad did this with some run-off from some strawberry jam he was making. goes a treat in macadamia milk
