Someone opened up a non-alcoholic spirit/drink store a few blocks down the street. I went there to get a bottle of this Ghia stuff you see all over the blogs, etc, for a gift. I got a little pre-mixed baby can for myself.

grape juice, yuzu juice, lemon balm, gentian root, fig, acacia, orange, rosemary, ginger, and fruit and vegetable juice

Tastes interesting, I guess. Floral and bitter. Not really getting any yuzu, maybe it’s the ginger beer mixed in covering it up. It’s probably too expensive for what it is but I am a sucker for a nice label, etc.

I want to try this one, as well, maybe; but they didn’t have it at the store. I think it could potentially quell my interest in thirty dollar plant water.

Last night I made a weird desperation meal (not a lot of ingredients on hand, no desire to go out and buy any or order takeout).

Steamed broccoli, jasmine rice, turkey meatballs. Mixed in a little bottled teriyaki sauce. The result wasn’t really great tbh but I’m proud of myself for finally using a steamer basket that my wife got at her bridal shower. That was surprisingly painless all things considered.

If you ever want to pretend to be a cat, I made keema curry tonight and it looks the most like cat food of anything I’ve ever cooked while still being delicious

Hot Chocolate Fest in Vancouver is still running but it ends in a week! Here’s the Mount Everest from Butter and the Drove My Dulce To The Leche But The Leche Was Chai from Kafka’s. Both, if you’re curious, were delicious

do they serve it with a slice of pie at least?

Well, the good ol boys were drinking leche, not chai, saying “this’ll be the drink that I try.”

They do not, although that brownie it came with was insanely good

whats on the side of the first one

what was in the brownie bar

A chocolate-dipped marshmallow for the first one, which may not be vegetarian but I make a habit of not asking when I extremely do not want to know!

And the brownie has a dulce de leche swirl and a teeny amount of edible gold leaf (so fancy!)

It’s Wednesday but it’s been a long week already so I broke out this bad boy and holy shit: dates, vanilla, pecans and alcohol nose, sweet and boozy initially with oak, vanilla and chocolate on the finish. Funkier than anticipated. A must buy if you’re in PNW where this would be stocked. Perhaps my new all-time favourite (House of Funk: Debauchery bourbon barrel aged imperial stout 10.5%)
